NFL bans private workouts, facility visits with draft prospects - ProFootballTalk

“Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports the NFL is prohibiting scouts from timing, testing, interviewing in-person or giving medical exams to any draft-eligible player at any location except a school’s pro day or at an all-star game. The league cited ongoing concerns surrounding COVID-19,

It bans private workouts, facility visits, dinners and film sessions with draft prospects. Schools hosting pro days are allowed a maximum of five players classified as “Designated Underclassmen” to participate in a pro day.”

Who knows what they will be drafting?

Sounds a bit extreme, but I get it. I guess they can do zoom meetings, but I'm guessing teams like to see these kids in person. Bad year to be a workout warrior. It's especially interesting to see how sitting out the year effects prospects who haven't been seen in a long time now. I think the prevailing thought was probably sit out the year, stay healthy, and get in top shape which now teams can't see up close as easily. Sure you're going to see the top few guys, but would about those mid and later round prospects.

If they love a QB, they should take them. If you're really convinced Fields or Wilson are your guy, don't trade to 5,6,7,8,etc and hope they're there.

It's a QB. You either love a guy to take over your franchise, or you don't. There's no "I like Wilson to be our guy, but only in the 7-10 range"

This. I'm not hoping for a QB, but if they identify a guy who they see as the future of the franchise, then you take him. You don't get cute and try to slide back a few spots and lose that guy. Again, not advocating for that pick, but if you decide on a guy then you go get him.

Generally, I'm in the 'trade back' group if you can get teams competing for 1 of the QBs at 2. I don't see teams paying a ransom for OL or WR, but I could be wrong.

Yardbarker had something saying 3 1sts is starting pt for Watson.

Long term/overall we are better off betting on Sam developing and using those assets elsewhere. However,
Could be on board w/3 firsts [but not 2OA] and reasonable add [not Becton], say our next 2 firsts + SEA 1st this yr.

That would diminish return we get for Darnold.
--------------

While adding Watson would be a net plus, Fitz was not bad and upgrading to Watson, at a cost of 3OA and other assets, would strengthen Dolphs overall but not without gutting some of that team.

screw Watson, Yardbarker and all these NFL egos. Poor Watson, signs a $160 million dollar contract and leads his team to a 4-12 record. Poor Watson recently tweeted Deshaun Watson@deshaunwatson Jan 19
“I been trying to have some patience, I told my momma she should pray on it.”

Yeah ok, let’s pray on it. Let’s strip a team of 3 #1 picks so Watson can join another team which can’t build around him b/c they have no picks. Tweet away in NY and watch how bad this gets. Sam Darnold hasn’t chirped a word despite this surrounding mess and Eli Manning kept quiet.

He’s already had one torn ACL, whining about small market Houston and now tweeting as if he’s the victim. Pray on it your team doesn’t trade for Watson.

Just to be clear, I explicitly said:
"Long term/overall we are better off betting on Sam developing and using those assets elsewhere."

I said showing an open mind I could discuss 3 future picks + but not too much [picks are too high], would have to be leveraged risk.

Let Miami gut itself to get him for a small net gain which = not really a much better team.

What do we think about

Darnold and SEA 2021 1st
for
Stafford + 7OA?

We get a quality stopgap and better pick upgrade.

Lions still have a 1st and add possible future QB, get younger, cheaper

Sure, a 32 year old which never worked out in Detroit for the Jets. A Lions team which is picking #7 could keep Stafford yet believe he’s not the answer so he’s the Jets answer?

IMO, a Stafford ends up in an Indy, Pats or Saints uniform. He not a rebuilding project QB or the Lions would keep him.

I understand not wanting to give up assets but you’re massively underrating Watson

darnold and Tua aren't in the same galaxy as Watson. It’s not even close.

Yeah I cannot imagine the Jets would have any interest in Stafford, at all. If they had a competitive team and just needed a QB to step in day one and be ready to go, sure, maybe. But they're rebuilding, they have very little talent, there is absolutely no reason to want a guy like Stafford.

Watson, you could build around.

Who knows Rodgers can do this on his own but I feel the Packers are little overrated. Bucs are a better team.

The Texans have been run very poorly these past few years. They have made some indefensible trades. I am a a Dolphins fan. Appreciate all the picks they traded us. That said they don’t have many chips moving forward.

They are being run currently by the former chaplain of the Patriots right now.

You don’t have to like this player using his leverage. He will be traded.

Do you reserve any blame for the team here?

and when things don’t go right elsewhere, then what?

Eli Manning kept his mouth shut. Sam Darnold has been quiet. This fella is tweeting about his momma needing patience after he signed a $160 million dollar contract lol (and he missed time due to a torn ACL). Poor baby.

Jason Pierre Paul being disruptive (nice job Gettleman)

Solid DL, back 7 making plays, Fournette looking like Jacobs and Brady not making mistakes.

Sounds familiar to 2011.

When I watch good offensive teams, I'm like, shit, we really are a JV squad. Even when we had Fitz having a good season a while back, it was never anything like what you see from other teams.

Idk, looks like good defense to me. Pack with only 10 points with Rodgers being hit. Brady not making mistakes . . . Awesome.

B.T.W. - why doesn’t Aikman just wear the jersey of the team he is clearly cheering for. My gosh.

Eli and Sam didn’t have Bill O’Brien running their teams like a chop shop.
