This obsession with David Quinn is kind of dumb.
I see it as just jokesThis obsession with David Quinn is kind of dumb.
Counting down the days to September 26.We have an embarrassing amount of riches on this team. Hopefully we can pick the right ones to keep and the right ones to trade. Anyone who isn't excited about this team over the next 3 years is asleep or dead.
Zac Jones Media Availability.
Morgan Barron Media Availability.
Brennan Othmann Media Availability.
Hopefully they will have more of these videos available over the next several days.Jones might need some time in Hartford, but the kid has an enormous offensive ceiling. But man, I’d guess he was 17 years old with his build.
This kid will WOW people with the puck. I question how well he’ll play without it.
Morgan has the facial bone structure of a 28 year old lol. He’s the one prospect that I think makes the team.
Othmann is at least 2-3 years away. But he seems hungry and humble. I see some Callahan in his game. I know that sounds crazy but he plays with that edge, has a terrific motor, and possess’s legit talent.
It’s a good time to be a Rangers fan. Even our secondary prospects look like potential beasts.
I want to hear more about Cuylle. He’s that one kid nobody talks about, yet has freakish size and potential talent to make for one hell of a winger.
Please don’t use the “D” word around us sexagenarians or above. For us three years could literally mean a life time.We have an embarrassing amount of riches on this team. On Cuylle, he looked lost according to my guy in Hartford. He'll need time. He should and likely will go back to the OHL this year.Hopefully they will have more of these videos available over the next several days.
I don’t see it happening but I would like to see Miller, Jones, Lundkvist, Schneider and Robertson start the year in Hartford. There is no need to rush their development.
From all the interviews I watched with Othmann, I am getting a vibe of confidence from him.
I believe Barron is ready now. I hope the organization hasn’t clogged the pipeline lines with NHL veterans forwards cutting off opportunities for him and others to make the team over the next two years.

We need to forget about him...although now that he's going to be an Assistant for Team USA, pending anger when they can't adjust or get scored on early.

i get that a lot of people wanted him out a long time ago. The Rangers did progress in his time though and players did become better players. Fox would be the outstanding example but Buch, Lindgren, Kakko would certainly be others. He took on a team that was really bottom of the barrel and got them to another stage.
an incapability to recognize that by some is par for the course. We do end up hating all our coaches. It just needs a bit of time.
I don’t think Barron should start in the NHL, I don’t see room for him and I don’t want him to get his offense stifled by playing 4C like Lias or Howden. There are already so many young players for us to develop already on the NHL roster. The way I see it the opening night roster should be something likeJones might need some time in Hartford, but the kid has an enormous offensive ceiling. Fox, Laf, Kakko, Shesty, Chytil, Miller, Nils, Kravtsov, Barron, Gauthier, etc how can we not be excited with the youth and now a good blend of “vets” who can play the game?!?!
A little over 20 years ago I had taken my eldest child to a birthday party in North Merrick.
There I go into a conversation about school systems with a woman who lived in the Herricks school district. At the time one of the best in New York State.
She said something that rang true and has stuck with me. “A good school system benefits the average child” she said. “An exceptional student will excel regardless of the school and a poor student will struggle.
Adam Fox was going to be great because he is Adam Fox. Look how he, in his first year was getting hammered in the corners and along the boards. When he returned for his second year he adjusted. I can’t remember once last season him getting slammed.
I believe the last administration failed many of their developing NHL roster players the last three years. Thankfully Lafreniere and Kakko looked better towards the end of last season.
I not putting all the blame of players that didn’t progress on Quinn. The organization is equally to blame not having specialist on hand to work with the kids to help them get better.I get what your saying, but it becomes very biased when the failures were all his fault, and the successes were in spite of him. Fox, Lindgren, and ADA all greatly improved over his tenure. Guys like Kakko, Laf, Chytil have also grown under his watch.
Im fully on board with transitioning to Gallant, but I think Quinn was more mixed bag than disaster. This team obviously wasn’t built to compete the last few years. Hopefully they are closer now. Going into last year, it was realistic to expect them to compete for a playoff spot which they did. It was the horrible showings in the biggest games that was the major issue. How much was Quinn and how much was roster construction? Probably a little column A and a little column B. On top of that, the ADA nonsense and the whispers of lockeroom issues and I’m fine with the move - just need to keep it in perspective. He wasn’t Trottier.
You hit the head of the nail here. Yes, the league has a hard salary cap which closes the gap between small teams and big teams in terms of their player salaries. That doesn't excuse the big teams doing a worse job at scouting and development, when they can spend fortunes in scouts and coaches. Teams like Toronto and NYR should be the ones who hit those home runs in the later rounds of the draft instead of Tampa, Carolina etc.I not putting all the blame of players that didn’t progress on Quinn. I remember when the early 80’s Rangers were terrible on face offs and they brought Esposito down from the press box to teach the centers how to be better at draws.
Miller was terrible last year along the boards and behind and directly in front of his net. This should have been addressed. The Rangers have plenty of money to hire the best former NHL’ers to pass on their knowledge to our rookies.
In the recent Brennan Othmann video, Brennan talks about how Ryan Reaves offered to help him with the fighting part of the game. The team needs more of that.

Well Hartford isn't too bad. Think about what Vancouver had with Utica. How do you actually develop those AHL players, call them up etc, when they are on the other side of the country?100%.
I remember seeing a video interview with Brian Burke when he was with the G.M. Of Toronto.
Burke said the one of the main reason they moved the Maple Leafs minor league team to Toronto was so that it would be more desirable and an added selling point to undrafted College, CHL and European players.
When the Hartford agreement is up Drury should consider moving the Wolfpack to Belmont, Uniondale or Brooklyn and also incorporate the things that you suggested.
