Anyone know what happened to Schneider? Has he returned for the third?

Not sure why he disappeared, but he was one of Team White's best defenseman prior to that I thought.

Top 3 team red forwards I liked are Rees, Krebs, Pelletier, Wright. Not too impressed with the other red forwards other than in glimpses
Byram, Drysdale, Guhle, Spence on D.

Team White Dach, Tomasino, Zary, Mercer, McMichael, Clarke all good. Cozens hurt was good early
Korczak and Robertson on D

Brochu was good again

I thought Korczak was good tonight. He has been one of Team White's best defenseman in these two games.

I haven't noticed Schneider much at all in both scrimmages, but I can't see him not making the team. Guhle, Byram, Drysdale...I liked Korczak too. Robertson was ok, but didn't stick out or anything. I can see them taking Korczak and a puck handling Dman. Almost all the Dmen had a good moment or two. I liked the O'Rourke stood up to Dach, who was abusing them all game.

I would split up Drydale and Byram. Not enough pucks for the two of them. Drysdale was good, but Byram was at a different level than everyone but Dach.

Guhle Drysdale
Byram Schneider
Robertson Barron/Cormier/?
Harley Korczak

Beckman looked slow...not just skating wise, but in terms of adjusting to the quicker pace of play. If he doesn't adjust he won't make it, and even if he does he will be a long shot.
Zary looked good.
Rees good too, but I can't help but feel that he doesn't have the elite tools. Very smart though.
Krebs is playing well and fast.
McMichael and Tomasino played well. I think they have a good chance to make it, though I have to see Tomasino use his speed more.
Mercer, too.
Cozens played very well till he had to leave.
Perfetti has had a few moments, but I don't think he is a lock to make it. Seems a half step behind.
Dach was the best forward on the ice.
Jarvis wasn't noticeable.
Pelletier looked good, but not great. Definitely maybe?
Lapierre was ok, but has to play better. I am pretty sure that Newhook and Holloway will beat him out of a spot.
Clarke...on the fence.
Wright didn't look out of place, but didn't do anything to earn a spot.
Byfield looked ok, and almost really good...which is what he always looks like to me. He plays fast, but can't always keep it together. In some ways, he reminds me of Cozens from last year.

Overall, the pace was really fast and the play was good. Most forwards were playing hard both ways.

I've just been watching team White defense, but I'd want to give Hunt another look.

Forgot about Suzuki! Firmly on the bubble.

I thought Guhle looked good. Maybe a bit guilty of trying to impress the coaches with his offense, but his skating, size and strength is not going to be passed up. I think he is pretty clearly a lock.

I watch Hunt and ROR pretty closely as my team drafted them. Both were decent, and will have a vg chance of making the team next year, but did they do enough to knock out Korzcak, Harley, Schneider, or Guhle? I don't think so. I will say that they had the two best checks so far, with ROR's hip check on Dach, and Hunts standing up Krebs? with a shoulder check in the first scrimmage. Hunt is certainly a pleasant surprise, and looked like he has recovered from last year's injuries.

Some very good players will be cut.

I thought Perfetti had a pretty decent game but agreed on the other two.

Byfield hasn't played in a while so he may still be adjusting but I was kind of hoping he'd be on a similar level to what Dach is currently.

Byfield is over 1 1/2 years younger than Dach. I think he is going to be good, but it's a heavy ask to expect him to be at Dach's level.
True, but this is his 2nd WJR's so he's going to need to do more. As others have said, he's rusty so...

Wright looks like he needs to get a bit more comfortable but considering how much they had him out there on the PK it’s clear they are trying to find a role for him. I still think he’s on the bubble but they’d like to keep him. I don’t think he’d hurt the team if he played.

Not sure if they intended to imbalance the teams but White definitely had the better forwards and I believe ultimately the better goaltending. I don’t think many of the 02 forwards are going to make the team.

Me neither, I think this will be mostly older players on a loaded roster up front.

If Lafreniere comes back this could be a crazy strong team like in 2005 and 2015. However, all opponents will be bringing their best and nothing is guaranteed in a short tournament.

Having said that, when it’s best-on-best like this WJC will be, I like our chances any time it’s best-on-best whenever and wherever if we play the proper way and everyone buys in. Seems like a good group of kids this year as well. Dach looks like an absolute machine right now.

I wish Canada was in the stronger division. Unfortunately, we're not. We won't be challenged until NYE and that's never good. I can't imagine Canada not winning our pool - undefeated with a huge plus/minus.

We'll likely face a challenge in the first playoff game - there's always a strong team in the stronger division that somehow finishes fourth. If I were to guess : Canada will face Russia or the U.S. in the quarter finals.

Are they redoing the seeding after the quarter finals? If so, our semi final game may be easier than the quarters - assuming we win the quarters.

As for the other division...

Those games will be fun and Sweden's undefeated streak will be broken. The winner of the pool will not be 4 - 0 - 0 so, if Canada is undefeated, we'll be the top seed throughout the playoffs.

Oh believe me I know. I just want to see him dominate, it's not often we get a returning top 2 pick playing for Canada.

I expected Dach to be ahead by a bit as he's older and has NHL experience but I also think Byfield is a higher calibre of prospect than Dach so I was hoping it would be closer than it has been so far.

Huh? Perfetti has led his team in zone exits and entries by a long way, and has consistently generated chances. His game is a bit subtle, but if you pay attention his effectiveness is obvious.

This guy is tracking zone exits / entries. Perfetti has 13 controlled zone entries in the two games. There isn't another Red forward that's close.

Also, Perfetti has led the team in zone exits and entries combined.

I only saw the first half, but Perfetti caught my eye right away. I think he stands a good chance of making it.

I'm just not sold on Harley yet.

Like mentioned, there's a lot of good talent out there right now.

Perfetti plays slower than most of the others in camp, isn't strong, and doesn't win a lot of puck battles. In other words, if he isn't a contributor when he has the puck, then he isn't that useful, as opposed to guys like Rees, Mercer, and Holloway, who have a versatile skillset. I'd rather have Newhook with his speed than him...is Perfetti really better than McMichael, Tomasino, or Suzuki?

Again, some really good players are going to get cut.

When are the first cuts?
