He is most likely battling for a 4th line/extra forward spot I would think. Really strong group of forwards this year, probably will be dependent on how he plays in camp but I would have him on my team right now.Curious about what people think of Poulin's chances. Does he make the team?

Canadas top end is better, Turcotte is the weak link for the USA in this regard he might not even play in Canadas top 9. For my money id take Newhook, McMichael, Quinn and Perfetti over him without thinking twice. If you want to make an elite top 3 for the USA Robertson should be the third. Plus Canada has better depth up front and a better D core. Only place the USA is better is in net. Goaltending is the great equilizer, Knight could certainly be the difference in a one game elimination. If they played a best of 7 I really like Canadas chances, however thats not the format.I do not think that is a potentially better trio. At all.
No it hasnt because they have never had to beat them because they are never actually together. What if there was a team with a potentially better trio, Hughes, Turcotte, and Zegras, for instance with the best goaltender in the tournament (Knight)? Hasn’t that team been consistently better than Canada in this 2001 age group?

Saw you didnt have Quinn on Canada either. Cant wait to watch him torch team USA.
There's this story floating around regarding Power and the WJC camp:
Pearson unsure about letting Owen Power go to Canadian National Junior Team Selection Camp
Michigan's coach comes off as either very disingenuous or an idiot.
He should be allowed to play at the World Juniors.I don't believe it's neither, but you don't typically look at these things through a NCAA lens.
He isnt close to as good as the players in that conversation. So yes if you wanna match him up to Dach, Lafreniere, Cozens etc he isnt the same level player.Turcotte is no way, shape, or form a "weak link." What a laughable take.
Depends on whether he got a scholarship or not. If he has a scholarship, I can see the school's side.I don't think the schools should be influencing whether players come or do not come to the tournament. If Power makes the decision on his own then more power to him, everyone has their own priorities and at the end of the day we are going to have a good defense regardless. But if he wants to come he should be at camp.

Having said that, I agree, the student should have the final say and, if I was Power, I would threaten to transfer schools if they held me back. After all, with a good performance he could very well be the #1 pick in the NHL draft = a LOT of money.
Power has to do what's in HIS best interest. If Power thinks skipping the WJR's is best for him, so be it. If not, he has to assert himself.Yeah, that will go over well.
I mean Michigan needs Power more then Power needs Michigan. Realistically he will be a top 10 pick in next years draft if he doesn't play a game this year.Yeah, that will go over well.
The lack of fans will help Knight. He started getting ventilated against us when we switched ends and a few Canadians were getting real creative with the trash talk.Canadas top end is better, Turcotte is the weak link for the USA in this regard he might not even play in Canadas top 9. Exactly. Other schools would be love to have him (if it can be worked out) and there is always the option of the CHL.I mean Michigan needs Power more then Power needs Michigan. Realistically he will be a top 10 pick in next years draft if he doesn't play a game this year.

There has to be a middle ground where both Power and Michigan are happy because I doubt he wants to leave and I doubt they want to lose him.
Re : "You're projecting as a fan of Team Canada."Do you really think Power would bail on Michigan because of the WJCs? You're projecting as a fan of Team Canada.
Never know. The WJCs are for sure a dream for a lot of young CanadiansDo you really think Power would bail on Michigan because of the WJCs? You're projecting as a fan of Team Canada.
I mean he is in all likelihood spending one year at Michigan. Why is there an assumption of loyalty more then any junior program? You are projecting as well.Do you really think Power would bail on Michigan because of the WJCs? You're projecting as a fan of Team Canada.
