But that’s not dominance, I agreed their D was impressive, kept everything to the outside for the most part. But I can’t call that dominance.

I think he was out coached a bit, reality is he couldn’t get the kids to show up to the biggest game of the tourney until what the 3rd ?

it’s crazy that the team doesn’t show up to the last game of the tourney until the 3rd period. It’s a massive letdown.
If in your opinion the only way a team can dominate is to out shoot and gain more scoring chances, then no the US didn’t dominate in that sense.

In my opinion there are many ways to dominate a game, executing a game plan perfectly to win a game is one of them. You’re welcome to disagree...

Canada didn’t loose that game because their players decided not to try or show up until the third period. The were out coached and they didn’t adjust their game plan.

Agree with the outcoaching, the definition of domination I don’t but hey to each their own. For me domination is pretty much when every stat/metric is in your favour by a margin. They definitely executed their game plan to perfection, no doubt there.

I would agree that not showing up falls under poor coaching because you do have to get them ready. Coming out flat is one thing but for it to happen twice in a game this big, yea it’s f***ing poor.

It’s such a huge letdown, like I’m still at a loss for words. The program does need changes, losing 3 times to your rivals on home ice ??? Inside what 11 years ? Clearly the kids don’t have the confidence anymore. It’s not just coaching.

Being outcoached by executing a game plan is strategically dominating a game. At the end of the day, the score is the only stat that matters. In a one-game series, a team can outshoot the other team by 50-10 and dominate them in time in possession, offensive zone time etc. but if all the shots are from the outside and are low danger opportunities, then they open the door for a team who can burry their few but high danger opportunities.

IMO the US team knew they didn't have the depth to compete in an all-out offensive type game, they knew they had some high-end skill and the best goalie in the tournament. They played to their strengths and they deserved that win!

The TSN hype machine loves to blow the horn of Canada being heads and shoulders the best team every year in the world JRs. The world is catching up and Canada shouldn't expect to win every year or it's a letdown.

But now we’re moving past dominating to strategically dominating. Also lost in this is that Knight did face quite a few high quality chances, however he shut the door.

agreed minus the best goalie, that was Levi :P but seriously I can’t take away from how they excited their game plan.

When you have 20 1sts it is a letdown

To me, it has less to do with their draft position and more in terms of their performance during the tournament.

Granted, they only played two "tough" opponents but they played soundly against both.

I think it's fair to expect a better performance in the final, as they were a favourite at that point, and the Americans were the better team in that game.

I don’t think the Slovaks and Czechs should be considered tough but they could have pulled a surprise and one of them did beat the Russians.

but yeah it felt like something was missing all tourney.
