I think that most people agree that the key will be keeping the game 5 on 5. The American team has good players but the depth isn't great and the defencemen can be pressured. It's still a dangerous team though. I'm not going to say that I'm hoping for a good game or anything, just hoping for a win. Canada has looked better during this tournament but none of that matters in a one off game, and Canada has lost in similar situations before.

When is the last time these two teams haven't had a close game at this thing anyway?

We've been a better team at this tournament thus far but you can throw it out the window tonight.
forgot 1 thing.

Walking away until after the game. Here's hoping we win. Good luck.

GO CANADA GO !!!!!

They played their hearts out, but couldn’t get through that last line of US D, and Knight was terrific too. Such is the life of a single game elimination tourney, these guys have nothing to be ashamed of. Went balls to the wall, and at the end of the day silver is still a strong accomplishment, even though they’re obviously super disappointed not to win gold.

Poor Byram, he’s devastated, but they keep dragging him out there for more ceremony stuff.

Well, that tournament was not a success given the result. Can't really blame the typical options as the goaltending and coaching were fine. The team just didn't come out and play its best in the final, USA did play very well which obviously hindered Canada, and the team deservedly lost. I'm bothered when Canada is eliminated but outplays the other team, but that wasn't the case today. This team showed a very high peak in a few games but it wasn't able to sustain it. Very few of the players would classify as disappointments. Credit to them for playing well for the most part despite covid obstacles, primarily having so few games this year. Anyway, on to the 2022 tournament.

Here’s what I noticed, especially in the final game.

Cozens - You’re a co-captain, and completely no showed in the biggest game of the tournament. Gotta do more than put up points on inferior opponents.

Byram - this dude has all of the talent in the world. I do question his decision making, he needs to simplify a bit.

Perfetti - I’ve never seen someone so effectively kill a powerplay in my life. Not impressed.

McMichael - Couldn’t get anything going all tournament, disappointing.

Quinn - I’m glad my team didn’t draft him, I don’t know what the coaches see in him

Byfield - Stepped up in one game against a bad team. Deserves every bit if criticism.

Drysdale - Had a rough game but was solid all tournament.

Schneider and Guhle I thought were both solid as well although maybe not much offensively in their games.

Levi played well, this game was not his fault. Everyone else was fine to meh. Just super disappointed.

As much as I complained about the overplaying of Jack Quinn I don't think any individual player lost them this game. Almost no one was able to create anything in that game. USA shut us down very well and when we did Knight came up big.

The even strength streak and the never trailing streak were two massive bullseyes that the Canadian media couldn't help but fix on the Canadian squad.

You'd better believe that the US was much more motivated to win and prove everyone wrong, while Canada were much more motivated not to lose. It's what Tom Renney said and it's absolutely true.

In which case, it comes down to game preparation and coaching, because we can't make James Duthie and the rest of the TSN staff keep it in their pants for just one last game before crowning them.

A bunch of us mused about the value of adversity or even losing in the round robin.

The allure of going perfect in a tournament is hard to resist, but there is something to be said for never being in a truly challenging situation.

I feel bad for Levi who really had no chance on either goal and played tremendous from start to finish.
