Line Combos: 2021 Boston Bruins Lines

I'm bringing my half-season player effectiveness ratings here, as they currently seem most appropriate here. they come with the usual disclaimer of opinions about (lack of) usefulness to others, as I do these for myself, but also feel less wasteful of efforts upon sharing. some really interesting maths have shaken down since last time, which I'd guess was about five weeks back. well, anyway:

FRE 72 - BER 93 - PAS 93
RIT 55 - KRE 88 - SMI 84
BJO 55 - COY 63 - SEN 43
BLI 75 - STU 63 - KUH 61
GRZ 92 - McA 92
LAU 71 - CLI 76
ZBO 68 - KAM 76
HAL 89
VLA 109

MAR 99 - KUR 47 - STE 75
DeB 63 - McK 11 - WAG 40
ACH 75 - CAR 82
VAA 57 - MIL 75
TIN 47
RAS 84

historically, this team does not keep most players with what amount to failing grades come the season's end. I expect to see Kuraly and Wagner going and Ritchie staying. does McKegg get more chances? do Senyshyn and Vaakanainen? is Tinordi a keeper over Moore (38)? it's pretty clear to me that this roster could really use either Steen or Blidh to get hot and stick to the lineup while management scrambles to get a proper deal done for scoring help from any type of forward that they can reasonably acquire. it's getting to be kind of a mess. the team almost never has this many scrubs by this point in the season. I can't think of a time in the last dozen years there was this much fail occupying the depth chart.
What is the top end of your scale? How impressed should i be about Vladar's 109???

Personally I'd swap Debrusk and Seny with Bjork and Kuhlman. Seny and Debrusk on Coyles wing would be a very fast and tough to contain line.
Take those changes. Kick, Frederic to LW, and Bjork to RW. Insert Studnicka/Kuraly at center and move Kuhlman to 13th man, where he steps in if Seny or Bjork slump or if there is an injury.

Marchand Bergeron Pasta
Ritchie Krejci Smith
DeBrusk Coyle Senyshyn
Frederic Studnicka/Kuraly Bjork

Senyshyn and Bjork would be flipped if Bjork is consistently playing his A game. I love the kid, and past couple games, it seems he is out of the doghouse. Same on the Left side, while I like Ritchie and DeBrusk in the middle 6 Frederic moves up if someone is not bringing their A game.

I can't wait to see a friggin full line-up. Crazy-town. So hard to make anything out of this bruins team.

What about trial run perfection line dismantling?

sometimes I cut it off at 100 and call that the max no matter the output, with a floor of 25, but the raw numbers of outliers can certainly stretch above and below those. Bergeron-Cleary and Marchand are often pushing 120 and Studnicka came in hot at like 165 or something a year or so back, so outliers can certainly outlie. some scrubs over the last few years have put up negative numbers, but they never last long at all. Subban is the only such goalie in my recall. Vladar is repping some proper numbers, but they don't tell a complete story at this point because his time is not really sufficient for finding a real average. suffice to say that he's hot, despite some glaring gaffes. netminder numbers don't have much of a formula in my little project -- if you view the team's goalie stats, you'll see that this is just a reflection of how that has shaken out this season so far. it's an impressive start, but it's just a few games in his career at this point, so more input is likely to adjust that into a more normal range. my attention is on the fourth-liners and scratches and scrubs. there's some housecleaning to be done. kids can have more chances, but I don't think there's room for some of these line anchors going forward. it's time to do stuff about things.

Marchand - Bergeron - Smith
DeBrusk - X - Pastrnak
Ritchie - Krejci - Kase/Senyshyn/Kuhlman/X
Frederic - Coyle - Senyshyn/Kase/Kuhlman/X

Once Debrusk returns

Marchand Bergeron Smith
Ritchie Krejci Pasta (finally??)
Bjork Coyle Kuhlman
Debrusk Kuraly Senyshyn
Frederic

I would prefer to see when DeBrusk comes back:

Marchand Bergeron Smith
Ritchie Krejci Pasta
Debrusk Coyle Bjork
Frederic Kuraly Senyshyn

The question now involves who fits where?

Smith is not a top line forward, but he has fit with Bergeron and Marchand in a small sample size.

Rielly is not a top 4 defenseman, but he sadly might be used as such.

Bruce has decisions to make.

Hall & Pasta could be a defensive nightmare for Krejci. I’m sure they’ll try both Smith and Pasta at 1RW/2RW.

I suspect lines will be fluid and situational.

Bruins up by a goal or two, Smith takes more shifts with Krejci, Bruins down a goal or two, Pasta and/or Hall double shift and go up with Bergy and Marchand

Marchand -- Bergeron -- Smith

Hall -- Krejci -- Pasta

Ritchie -- Coyle -- ?????

Freddy -- Kuraly -- Lazar

I think DeBrusk gets moved for a RWer... Connor Garland? Maybe go big and get Ekholm for the blueline?

I also don't know how to do the d pairings because it's just a hot mess of injuries back there right now.

Nashville is likely making the playoffs amd not trading Ekholm, though I agree with looking to add a more meaningful defenseman.

DeBrusk, for now, is likely the 3RW, but I agree with trying to move him for a true RW.

That's how I have it too right now.

Which means we have one more trade to make

I don't mind Ritchie playing down on the 4th. Basically delegated to hit people 5v5 and be a PP specialist. Maybe you stick with 74-13-12 and put your newly acquired RW with 63-37. I dunno, but a lot of different ways tomorrow can go.
