The obsession that some have with Petro is just weird. He got the deal he wanted, and we might have the best offensive team we've ever had if you adjust for era. And we've rarely had a fully healthy roster this season, so imagine the production once we are healthy and firing on all cylinders.

Do the blues keep Tarasenko with kyrou and Thomas or move him back with the Russians?
Tarasenko-Thomas-Kyrou line was nasty against Edmonton, but I think I’d reunite the Russian line(who has been equally great recently) and put someone else(Saad? Brown? Schenn?) with Kyrou and Thomas. That would be two really dangerous lines.

What I would like to see...

Saad - O'Reilly - Perron
Russian line
Brown - Thomas - Kyrou
Kostin - Bozak - Sunny

Brown isnt keeping up with Thomas and Kyrou nor should those 2 be on the third line.

The lines are fine. I don’t see a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd line. Each can take over a game and would be a legit first line on most teams in the NHL.

There are going to be good players on the "3rd line" no matter how it works out, but I'm sure the usage of the 2nd and 3rd lines would be similar. Tarasenko will be fine no matter who he plays with and Schenn seems to be close to returning, so I'm wondering if he should play with Thomas/Kyrou or Barby/Buchnevich? I feel like we get more out of Buchnevich when he plays with Tarasenko so I'd probably keep the Russian line together and put Schenn with the kids. Maybe playing with Thomas and Kyrou would help Schenn find his offense again. He can be the #1 forechecker/defensive guy on that line and create space for the creativity of Thomas and Kyrou. Barby, Buchy and Schenn would be a pretty outstanding 3rd line but I don't know how much offense that line would generate.

I do agree that Brown couldn't keep up with the kids, and eventually him and Kostin will rotate in and out of the lineup depending on if we need more of a checker or offensive guy as the 12th forward.

I agree with this. With the exception of the Russian Line for a bit, I can’t even keep the lines straight.

I like the flexibility of our forwards because they’re often mixed and matched according to on-ice situations that prevent full line changes.

Juggling lines and getting a diversity of players familiar with each other has been a key to our offensive force.

Of course COVID stuff happened, but that has been a blessing for the Blues. We would have never seen how good Logan Brown actually is. Appears that he needed the proverbial change of scenery. He was often labelled as a really nice kid (kind of a bad thing), so I can imagine being back home with his family gives him a feeling of contentment. 12-15 goals per season is not above Brown and he provides an unexpected defensive presence.

I've always had a strong inkling, since they were drafted, that Toropchenko and Mikkola would end up as NHL gamers. Toro has physical 4th-liner tattooed on his face. The boy needs to chill out a little bit, but I don't blame him for asserting his physical presence as he is fighting for a roster spot next season. As far as I'm concerned, Toropchenko has shown enough in those few games to give the Blues hope that he is here to stay and will start nipping at the heels of players ahead of him.

Our lines are so plastic that I don’t envy opposing coaching staffs in their preparation for a game with the Blues.

Kostin still doesn’t look ready. He takes way too many dumb penalties. I feel like the only reason he is here right now is bc we don’t have any other prospects pushing him for time. It makes sense to let Neal go rather than let him go through waivers, but if Neighbours was eligible to play in Springfield I really wonder if Kostin wouldn’t be gone by now. Just a really disappointing season from him so far. We get the same things out of Brown, but he’s at least got a little more diversity in his skill set (although I still want him to park in front of the net more). If we have anybody that can be trade bait, I think it’s Klim. He’s just expendable at this point

Kostin has taken one penalty in the last ten games. And only five in total this season (three of which were in the first five games). I don't think his penalties are an issue. And this is coming from someone who's called him a hothead before. He

I think Toro will push Kostin for ice time. If Klim's performance continues to wane, then I can see Dak, Toro or even MacMac pushing Klim when we're healthy and can start a normal rotation of AHL players. As much as I'm excited about Toropchenko, I understand that with a normal cap situation and healthy roster, he would have probably not been called up. The first wave was Brown, Dak and Walker, I think, and then Peca and Toro joined the team, which means Toro is not high on the depth chart.

And we cannot forget about MacMac. As soon as things are back to a somewhat normal situation, DA will find a way to call him up. He needs to get in some games.

Glad to see we’re not gonna keep Neal’s old legs here.

Brown and Joshua have pushed him out. I’d much rather roll with the younger guys.

This is good news for Brown. He’s earned a spot for the rest of the season. I hope Neal clears and is available as depth for the playoffs.

Blues' James Neal: Lands on waivers

Rotowire 6 hrs ago
Neal (undisclosed) was placed on waivers Sunday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Neal has been on injured reserve since November with an undisclosed injury. He's scored just four points while averaging 11:54 of ice time through 17 games this season. If he clears waivers, the team will likely assign him to AHL Springfield.

Would he even report or will this ultimately be a mutual termination of contract?

Interesting - per P-D

COVID has a mind of its own, and 14 Blues already have tested positive for COVID. But under NHL COVID protocols, once they’re on the COVID list they don’t have to be tested again for another 90 days.

Basically, don't ask don't tell. Honest answer is the new strain is more like a heave duty cold (We have it so I attest to the symptoms). CDC changed the guidelines for a reason.
