In the last 23 games the Comets are 12W/11L.
3 of those losses were in the last 4 games.
It's also not like they have been losing to the the top teams in their North Divisin or the Atlantic Division.
The losses shake out like this:
1 to #8 Lehigh Valley in the Atl. (3-2)
2 to #7 Cleveland in the North (2-1 and 3-2 SOL)
1 to #7 Bridgeport in the Atl. (4-1)
4 to #5/6 Rochester and Syracuse who had been changing places for a spell in the North. (They lost to each of them twice. Rochester 4-3/3-2 and Syracuse 6-3/3-2OT)
1 to #5 W/B-Scranton in the Atl. (3-2)
1 to #4 Hershey in the ATL. (4-0)
1 to #3 Toronto in the North (A 6-2 weekday afternoon loss to Toronto that was over in the 1st. The Marlies were cruising at that time in mid-February.)
Quite a few 1-goal games. 1 2-1, ,5 3-2 1 in OT and 1 in a SO.
The other 4 were 4-0, 4-1, 6-2 and 6-3.
The playoffs are very often close, low scoring, 1-goal games. The Comets with a supposed group of lethal scorers struggle in them.
They are also not very deep and have been losing players a lot of late. Right now Gauthier is out injured. Groleau, Foote, Schmelzer, Deleo, and Holtz have been out with injuries. Bahl has been up and down. Zetterlund and Greer are up there now. Providing everyone stays healthy those guys will all be available for the playoffs.
Halonen doesn't look like he will be of much help and the ECHL call-ups will not be helpful if needed to step up in the Playoffs. McGrath, who has been here most of the season has been basically useless.
These guys need a real shaking up and perhaps 2 back to back losses to Belleville Wednesday and Friday and a 3rd in Laval tomorrow would qualify as a shakeup.
