Not really excited for the future. All of our top C prospects look trash, no decent goalie in the pipeline to replace Quick, shit special teams coaches (who will somehow retain their jobs), aging Kopitar...

I have faith Clarke is going to be stud very soon.

We really do need Byfield to make it.

Kopi looks old and slow sadly.

Wanting Kupari to turn the page.
Don't know anything about prospects but is kupari projected as a 15-20 goal scorer? If not then he's just a bigger Lizotte.

Looking a Kopitar during that press conference he looked like he is sick or crying. I know he just lost a game 7, but he did not look good.

Don’t like the “we didn’t have player X” excuses.

Kings didn’t lose from a lack of talent. They lost because they got outcoached. Look at game 6 and 7. Woodcroft clearly adjusted. Todd didn’t.

Their players were pressuring the kings safety valves nonstop which is why they kept turning the puck over. Todd never changed anything up. They lost the same way they lost the last game.

Nonstop pressure because the breakout passes weren’t there.

Would we do better with said players, yes. But would Todd have adjusted? No. So they would have undoubtedly lost.

Let’s not use injuries for the terrible powerplay, penalty kill, and short handed goals.

This is strictly coaching.
Kings were out skilled too but injuries would not be a big deal if Byfield and Turcotte weren’t busts. But here we are

Kings are going no where if they don’t trade for a superstar, and fire Todd

Quick played great and Oilers were extremely unlucky how many grade A chances they were missing. It wasn’t a close game at all despite the score
I agree with everything except the superstar. If Byfield or Vilardi don’t emerge we need to draft one. They don’t come via trade or free agency without blowing up your cap

Condensed series, playing 20+ minutes much of the time at his age will add that wear and tear. He needs a reduced role to use him most effectively next year, Danault will need to continue to play like he did in the regular season and Kupari may be the first prospect to step up

And that extra ice time was mostly due to not having doughty

Well if that’s the case then the Kings are going to be hitting another hard rebuild because I think anyone with eyes sees that Byfield,Vilardi, and Turcotte aren’t anything special at all.

Gonna be a pretty bad next 5 years with Kopitar essentially dead and no one beside Danault being capable of being a top 6 center.

This team wasn't winning the Cup this year; especially without Doughty and Arvidsson.

Overall a very solid season. That said our prospects are all looking like busts.

That’s the weird thing about this season. It was obviously a good season all things considered. But none of the big prospects took steps forward, so it’s difficult to get excited about 22/23.

Feels more like a fluke than anything else, to be frank. But time will tell.

I think it’s a fluke season because a lot of the Kings success doesn’t really add up.

They couldn't do shit offensively in 6 and 7.

Edmonton adjusted, Todd didn't. See you later.

He's not a bad coach. You can even call him a good coach. But he has routinely shit the bed when it matters and Blake is like "give him $5MM for five years"

Todd has had elite rosters and choked. Why the f*** is that going to change?

It's not just that Denault is the only top 6 center, they also don't have any top line players at all. Kempe is a nice 2nd like player. Same with Arvidsson. Look at the top teams and their top lines. Most of the top teams have 3rd liners who would be the Kings best offensive player.

This.

San Jose Sharks should have at least one Stanley Cup win with the rosters they iced when Todd was coaching them.

I expected it from the start of the season.

And I expected the Kings to develop and integrate the prospects into key roles, particularly up front.

Merely making the playoffs was never good enough. Without trading a single prospect, they managed to mortgage their future for the present.
Would you like your glass half empty, or half full? Because I'm pretty sure you don't even have a glass LOL

Look at the Game 5 domination when excluding special teams and then look at the last two games. Edmonton played differently. Kings just ran their heads into a wall

I get it for the first game but Todd needed to be prepared. Nope. Same shit and Edmonton was even better on defense.

The only positive was that Quick is a f***ing stud alpha and it's too bad he has a Game 7 loss on his record.

I said a couple weeks ago that you can compare this to the 2000 team. Well, nobody talks about that one and nobody will be talking about this one.

Definitely a concern. We won in spite of our young forwards taking steps forward. Encouraging signs from Anderson, Durzi, and Spence on defense, and arguably a step forward for Kaliyev’s all-around game, but stagnation at best for pretty much every other player. Especially concerned at varying degrees and for various reasons with Byfield, Turcotte, Vilardi, and Bjornfot. I don’t think we’ve talked enough about Bjornfot’s regression this season. Big question marks up and down the lineup.

Credit where it’s due though, was very impressed with Kempe, Danault, Moore, and Arvidsson this year.

I've said this multiple times all season long.

If you want to take pot shots now, instead of discussing it all season, then congrats. You've won. I'm not arguing anymore.
