GDT: 2021-22 season WESTERN CONFERENCE QUARTER FINALS Game 3 LA Kings vs Edmonton Oilers @7:00pm Series Tied 1-1

The good news (I haven’t checked the actual numbers) is the bottom six looks good and is getting more time and looks.

That bodes well for maybe wearing down the oilers top six a little bit

QB is way to immature to be in there at this level, but it’s really not a knock on him because he’s so young. But shouldn’t even have been playing. That said it gets harder to score in the playoffs and they’re pretty weak during the season. Need a top line player or 2 to step up here.

Shopping list in off season, someone to play with Kopitar on the top line.

Kings are a 1 team line and it is the so called 2nd line
Kopitar is just as much a part of the problem. He is too old to play a #1 center role and likely to see a sharper decline next year. Point total will most likely drop to the 50s and will have less of an impact in all areas. Nothing at all to be ashamed of, he is doing what he can with what's left.

Instead of putting emphasis on growing and progress they are trying to win with players who cannot win anymore. This is the last hurrah for the Cup Core, they gave them what they wanted instead of TURNING THE CORNER into a new, organically grown identity that develops around younger players who are allowed to pursue their own destiny instead of being developed to fulfill minor roles in the story of the last generations dying breaths.

Like this feeling folks? Getting man-handled by an average team so the old folks can get yet another last chance? Sentimentality plays far too large a role in this entire organization, nothing will change until they let the past go and embrace a future that is already rearing to go.

Byfield hasn't been anywhere near as bad as Athanasiou was that period.
Athanasiou didn't give the puck away to McDavid. Didn't take a stupid penalty leading to a goal. Didn't cough up the puck leading to a shortie... so I think you're wrong.

Sad part is Blake will look for more defensive forwards because that is what we need...lol

The Oilers forwards are pretty big and fast.
This is killing our small defense.
Our forwards have to start a lot of breakouts scrambling for possession.

I said it last game and got chastised. Kopitar has his 2 cups and a buttload of money. He shows up when he feels like it. He still has it to be an effective player he just doesn’t have any hunger whatsoever. Dead wood!!!!

He was a great player and was amazing for this franchise. That doesn’t mean shit in a GAME DAY THREAD though.

He should also look into using an adult sized stick instead of a youth. Pretty sure mine was longer at 12.

AA is another one of those easy players to judge (there are a lot n the league). He either generates offense and he serves a purpose or he doesn’t and he’s not playable. Vilardi is the same way, you have those guys in and deal with the deficiencies if they bring offensive production. If they don’t, they sit.

AA has had three pretty meh games, you could easily justify sitting him for game 4.
I agree with everything you said, except I feel "meh" is being generous to describe his play this series

But what if the higher draft pick turned into a star player? Which the system is lacking.

It’s nice that guys like Durzi, Spence etc are playing and progressing. But where are the guys expected to be difference makers

Just tough to be where we are with a 2OA at the end of year 2 being a healthy scratch.
Or, more likely the team drafts another underwhelming talent and the teams ends up like all those other teams that have been rebuilding forever with zero results.

Well said. So much has been wasted in the name of the cup core

man draisaitl seems pretty upset that no one bought his "play dead" routine after that stick in the skates
