Still a game of inches really.

if that iafallo puck goes in, or the pp does anthing, or you clean up any of those pucksnter the first intermission with at least a goal.

entering the second gassed and can't catch up
You can add Kopitars shot that went through his legs too. Just a slight bit more and it's in. The puck stopped 4 inches from the goal line.

At the end of it all, you guys are still going back to L.A. having taken home ice advantage.

We (Oilers) aren't consistent enough to bring that game to the rink every night. We are a very beatable team for your Kings.

Short memories are the order of the day at this time of year. Don't let it ruin your day.

AA has to be better. Missing Arvy very much.

Tkachev has a goal and 2 assists tonight, after 2 (Reign leading Gulls, 4-2. Turcotte 2 assists) Would ALMOST consider calling him up, just to play PP1 only.
He was the best on the PP in the preseason by far. Really too bad he cannot play 200 feet at the NHL level.
Brown and Edler are too slow....but understand why they are in there.

Vilardi and Kupari gotta draw in Friday.

HAHAHAHA!

The last part, agree. Lemeux and Grundy were awful tonight, even in the blowout stage. The bottom line need more skill .

What happened to Austin Strand?
I think I'd kind of like him out there,

Seems like Durzi+ Spence+Roy is just too small on RD.
Spence is good player

Austin Strand is too slow and has very low hockey IQ

Durzi is slow and has low hockey IQ

Roy has low hockey IQ

The first goal was a penalty kill i think and he wasnt even out there.
My bad, it was the 2nd goal...the SH goal. Here's a quote from TM on that one:

"they get their power play and score and then they get the shortie and that shortie was a tough one to swallow. It’s a puck we should have been able to keep in on the half wall,"

That was Byfield who didn't keep it in on the half-wall...he will be scratched for game 3.

I don’t know if I’m more worried about Quick being tired and going down 2-1. At that point, you’ve got your back close to the wall with Cal as the option.

What shot by Kane.

Huh? The series is tied 1-1, and even if it a 2-1 Oiler lead, you don't switch goalies, especially when the special team are losing you games [ more pp than pk].

9 players playing in their first playoff series and we go home with a split. Take that and build off of it. Add all the injuries and this team is over achieving but it sets the foundation for a really good team down the road.

Blake needs to make the right moves this off season to continue to build off of this. We all know what we need, more skill, scoring, size etc... how many more years until we put it all together is where Blakes' legacy will lie.

Trade for an enigmatic russian scoring specialist, put him on teh 4th line and not use him on the PP, and ride him out of town?

You do remember how bad he was away from the puck, the way he floated from the redline in and refused to go into the corners, right? Even the best Russian scorers in the league have to do more than score on the pp.

Actually, I'm in the different camp here, I think you stick with Byfield, yea, he screwed up, in both games, he's 19....you drafted him for a reason, I think he's smart enough to realize he has to be stronger on the puck, I think you let him go, if he does it a 3rd game, then all bets are off....

Byfield has to be sat after that bad play on the shorty no? Give Vilardi a chance.
I'm all for giving Vilardi a chance. But probably in place of Lemieux, except mix the lines a little so you don't have 2-3 rookies on the same line.
Maybe something like
Kempe-Kopitar-Kaliyev
Moore-Danault-Grundstrom/Kupari
AA-Lizotte-Vilardi
Iafallo-Byfield-Brown
or something similar

Yup he's a kid. If you start punishing for every mistake at that age, it gets in people's heads and can destroy their confidence. I'm not so punitive I would just punish someone for one error. But if it's consistent, then you gotta pull the trigger.

The Kings can’t match the physicality of Edmonton. (Kassian)

If the PP isn’t figured out fast the Kings will lose the series.
Agreed. Lemieux had a total ice time of 5 minutes. There was no answer iced for Kassian at 9 minutes. LA needs to pick up the physical pace and hit more. The hits were even in number but EDM had more quality hits and turnovers.

AA wasn't very good on the top line. I noticed him twice, the penalty on Smith and the 2 on 1 where he out thought himself with Smith out of position and whiffed! If he's not doing his job, using his speed, he's pretty much worthless. Todd saw it right away after the 1st period I think, and moved him off of it.

The Kings SUCK at home though, I'm scared to go to Friday's game.

If they can come out with a split at home too and reset it to a best of 3, that's a great outcome imo.

Ehh

I think 100% of us would take 1-1 after two games of playoff hockey.
Sure some things don't look good, but they haven't all season. Doubt it'll change.
Not impressed so far with 55. Yup he's a kid, but so is Spence and he's rad. Gonna have questions with him until he figures it out, or doesn't.

Anyway, hopefully our crowd is amazing the next couple of games. This team needs all the help they can get.

LA did not deserve to win the game but the reffing is really destroying the flow of these first two games. The call on Edmonton, "slash on kopitar" was weak as all hell. The Smith dive was crazy. Yes AA made contact but not that much, should have been 2 for embellishment as well. The Kaliyev interference was legit, but Edmonton did the same f***ing thing in the first. Conner taking Anderson out into the oilers net should have been called too as LA actually had the zone and it killed it.
Reffing aside LA was not winning that game last night, just makes it frustrating as hell to watch.

There are few things that coaching can impact. Owning the matchups at home is one of them. Between that and the special teams being awful for the whole year I think pressure needs to be on TMAC and staff.
