i don't know who that was behind the play but he skated hard to the bench then just didn't go onto the bench

not really his responsibility but he was clearly coming to be subbed out

I may have been a bit harsh earlier. It's easy to forget Leon Draisaitl spent six years at the Angela Merkel School for Swimming & Diving Boys & Girls. Sorry, the Angela Merkel Schule für Schwimmen & Tauchen Jungen & Mädchen.

You can't just unlearn the instincts you pick up at a world-class institution like that.

aren't you supposed to whistle the play dead if a player jumps on too early?
generally yes but that wasn't really what happened, the guy coming off (not quick) just did a flyby on the bench and the guy that hopped on joined the play too

there were way too many kings on the ice for sure

Doesn't matter how good we look so far. If Todd keeps this ice time distribution up the next few games will be impossible to win
He does that with every team he's coached in the playoffs. Just rolls the top 2 lines with an odd shift from line 3 and 4 here and there.

So, I caught the Leafs-Bolts game and the first period of the Blues-Wild game and it really seems like the refs came in with a call everything mentality to start the playoffs. Somewhat concerned if that trend continues because that definitely benefits the Oilers.

I think AA was yapping that he was held...he could not use his stick and was being held, but just not a good view for a ref to see it. Reffing sucks!!!!!! The trip by Iafallo was Drai losing hs edge...not even close to a penalty...and the one on Byfield as a joke.

I even think Yamamoto should have gotten the only penalty on his tangle with AI. AI wasn't doing anything and Yama was wrestling him the entire time, BS.

On the SN broadcast they just played a montage of Drai being a prick.

I really don't like this guy.

THat's NEVER a call. 9 times out of 10, they let it go, 1 time out of 10 they blow it dead as they should if the team gets an advantage on the play. In this case the puck was being turned over anyway, it didn't affect the play.

If it were a bad call in isolation it might just be that; but that was a series of Oiler-favored bad calls that completely shifted the momentum of the game and gassed the Kings' top matchup players.

I'm not a big conspiracy theorist so I'll just go with the idea that the Oilers are playng like the 2010s Preds, strongest skaters on the rink in space, but the moment it looks like they might lose the puck, they hit the deck and grab a body part and the refs fall for it every. single. time.
