It's funny because I'd still complain about the same things I did 20 games ago--ice time distro, youth usage, Olli f***ing Maatta---but when everyone can pull those all up together it's hard to argue w/results.

If Kopitar and Doughty are having monster games, ride them. It's when they are playing uninspired hockey and still getting played to hell that doesn't make a lot of sense. They earned their extra shifts tonight and were great! All Kings forwards were between 10 and 18 minutes tonight except Kopitar and Iafallo. Maatta played 21 minutes tonight for some reason though, while Bjornfot and Durzi got 11 and 13, respectively. Maatta actually played well tonight though. Good game from him.

But no complaints tonight. Whole team played as a unit. Great win.

Well, okay, one complaint. Brown is getting worse every single game.

Oh, we're not allowed to say Zegras had a bad game, but we have to make sure we audit Brown and AA's mistakes to make damn sure we attribute the exact amount of blame Byfield deserves? f*** off with that. Zegras had a bad game, no one is saying he sucks or questioning his future the way they do any time one of our prospects so much as looks at a turnover.

You are allowed to say whatever you want. Doesn't matter to me. You think Brown and AA are the worst players on the team, I don't necessarily disagree btw.

I just don't get why with the skilled players their issues are always magnified but the gritty players are not, the good old "It won't translate when the games matter" nonsense. You would think a decade of Kane and Kucherov would change it but I guess not.

I wish some of the young players on the Kings had some of the "shortcomings" he has.

You have spent three years writing a thesis on why Turcotte will never score at the pro level, are you f***ing joking here bud?

I even went out of my way to point out Kucherov as an example of a guy who shook that later on, it takes time, and also pointed out that this was just tonight, not damning for his future.

Christ man, i didn't even say he hasn't been impressive this year, it was literally just tonight, but at least his foam finger waving fans are here to set me straight.

Your tone makes it sound like you disagree, but your text makes it sound like you agree...

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING – "Sounds like 80% kings fans! Edition" - @Zegs2comtois

Kalv : We cannot allow LA to take any point out of this
bsu : Zegras usually buzzes against the Kings. Hope he has a big night.
Zegs2comtois : Prob planning to make dough boy his bitch tonight
bsu : He's embarrassed him multiple times in their very little games against each other.
Boo Boo : You can just tell that z loves playing the heel against doughty and other stars with a bit of a temper
Hockey Duckie : Eakins' take on the Kings via Stephens' Real Time bulletin:
* Kings play 1-3-1, making it difficult to transition through to the offensive side
* Kings have upgraded their speed since last year
* Kings have a simple offensive game plan: Shoot the puck often, which most are from the outside. Team is looking for deflections, rebounds, or screens with seeing eye shots.
Hockey Duckie : And the Kings. We didn't add any top-6 talent, but the Kings did with two 28-year olds in FA C Denault (6-year contract @ $5.5 mil AAV) and traded for F Arvidsson (3-years @ $4.25 mil AAV). They're a more talented team than we are, but they're more veteran talent than the youth group like the Ducks. That should say a lot that we're close to the Kings in the standings. The Kings having more veterans carrying team means they are more consistent on the ice, which there's an article about the Kings "trusting" players. I read that as having more veteran players b/c their youths aren't doing anything to help the team win as Doughty blew up a stink about it last year publicly.
Leonardo87 : Kings are looking to still contend with this older experienced core. Wouldn’t be shocked if they try and go all in this year or close to it. I say F’ing let them. Ducks should just continue on their path of rebuilding and lock up their pending UFAs they feel can help not just now but in the future.
Hockey Duckie : With the talent pool the Kings have amassed, I think they can go get more players for a playoff run - especially since their prospects aren't doing much. Whereas the Ducks youth are taking the lead for the team and running with it. I agree with keeping the path of rebuilding and continuing the trend of layering vets with youths for the future. If anything, we could use a lower round draft pick on a defensive-minded veteran LHD that could also PK with an extra year under contract.
ADHB : Complete horse shit call. Quick flopping all over again, and Silf clearly got shoved into the crease.
mightyquack : Going to be one of those sort of games huh
Sean Garrity : Such a reactionary call because Doughty flails around after pushing Silfv into Quick.
Static : These guys are drunk. Go home.
mightyquack : When did the Kings change their arena name? Crypto.com Arena, christ
AngelDuck : Boring game so far. Kings don’t play a fun style
Terry Yake : Lol @ anyone calling Byfield a bust already
Zegs2comtois : Sounds like 80% kings fans
snowave : Jesus, are there ANY Ducks fans there tonight? Pathetic.
Ducks DVM : Feels like an understatement.
Ducks DVM : Was that not a penalty? Vs Lundestrom? Getzlaf coming in elbows high afterwards.
Goose of Reason : Sportsnet told me the game started later than it did, and then i turned it on to see Lundy get boarded and now I'm just filled with blood rage
Zegs2comtois : Seems like a good time to throw des carrick out there to get physical
Zegs2comtois : Lemuiex might fight carrick... but prob prefers fowler
Terry Yake : Lol these refs are f***ing blind
bsu : Is the ice dog shit or is everyone drunk?
duckhead32686 : Ice crew can’t use heat as an excuse for bad ice the last few days
duckhead32686 : Wow the kings aren’t perfect. Now start calling the holds
Zegs2comtois : Kings PK looks no where near as good/annoying as sanjoses
bsu : Did I waste my Friday night.....seriously? That's the effort in a fighting for playoff spot against your rival... pathetic.
TheGoodShepard1 : We are so soft, it’s f***ing sickening. Man up, b***hes
Sean Garrity : They were saying this is like a playoff game and then came out with that? Sheesh.
Zegs2comtois :
sucksuck-jpeg.510601

snowave : very uninspired hockey from the Quacks.
ScarTroy : If I have to watch another period like that, and listen to Jim Fox I’m gonna f***ing lose it
Zegs2comtois : I liked the kings broadcast with Miller… but fox is the worst in the league
TheGoodShepard1 : They have a great radio broadcast team, too. Nick Nickson and Daryl Evans should switch with Faust and Fox.
DuckRogers10 : Looks like I wasted my money being at the game tonight. Looks like they don't give a fu**. Piss poor effort in the 1st.
bsu : What a play by Kopitar.
Sean Garrity : Great play by Kopitar
Static : Durzi is exploitable. Shattenkirk let him off the hook a minute ago.
AngelDuck : Quick is the biggest fake tough guy in the league
Ducks DVM : Quick gotta quick. luckily, nobody was bitten.
ADHB : Quick still the same little bitch he was 10 years ago I see.
Static : Quick is still the same tough guy behind the stripes he's always been.
TheGoodShepard1 : Must be nice to be as protected as Jonathan Quick is. He's not an endangered species, zebras; meanwhile, you can run Gibson with impunity.
Static : It is weird that he gets the benefit of the doubt so often despite his reputation
TheGoodShepard1 : Carrick getting a penalty for doing literally nothing lmfao the officiating in this league is the greatest.
Static : It's weird that LA has had a full regime chance and is still so incredibly boring.
The Midnight Burrito : If anything they've become even more boring over the years. They have maybe one interesting player.
Sean Garrity : I don't have enough alcohol for this.
Static : Dudes are getting mugged
Duck Off : Most important game of the year so far and it looks like the guys have cement in their skates.
Static : Doughty is having an hell of a game
Mr Rogers : Even though he's got a lot of miles, Doughty is still much more effective than Lindholm. hampus is just too one-dimensional for my liking
AngelDuck : Doughty is a 1st ballot hall of famer. Hate him but he earned his accolades. Easily a top 5 defenseman of his era
The Midnight Burrito : It's a weird comparison and I think it's sort of emblematic of how overrated Hampus has become on the boards. Doughty's a borderline generational player. Hampus is a good #2. Of course Doughty is more effective, by like a million percent. I had hoped he was slowing down earlier this year but clearly not.
snowave : you guys are saying LA is boring, but they are playing a lot more exciting than the Ducks.
Zegs2comtois : Gibson over it, hopefully kings score 10
LuckyDucky : Gibson giving up again. Not good.
bsu : Gibson really pulled himself again... what a bitch.
Duck Off : he can f*** himself if he thinks he’s not part of the problem.
Zegs2comtois : I’m honestly over him , great goalie but terrible attitude
Ducks DVM : Nice face washing. Whatcha gonna do, Lemieux, bite him?
snowave : Miss the old days where we'd goon it up at this point. Des is trying, but he's gonna half to jump someone apparently. More than anything, I wish we'd show some emotion out there. They're just dead.
Ducks DVM : Then bite him.
Boo Boo : You can really see the effect of the kings having a selke calibre big center and following up with a second high end defensive center
Boo Boo : Excuse me but I was told that the ducks were feeling a playoff type energy tonight
Ducks DVM : I pretty much never leave games early, and I’m seriously considering it.
Zegs2comtois : Well this was kinda how our last playoff game vs kings looked
Ducks DVM : This feels a lot like the typical BB G ame 7/RC Game 6 kinda night.
duckaroosky :
im-not-having-a-good-time-im-not-having-fun.gif

Ducks DVM : Pulled the goalie
Zegs2comtois : (Pulled the goalie) Coulda sworn we did that at the start of the game
bsu : Zegras looked straight depressed at the end.
Ducks DVM : 3 Stars
1 - Kempe
2 - Kopitar
3 - Terry
snowave : Nice 8 minute effort tonight from the boys.

Kings Fans traveling well. LOL

Zegs2comtois : Sounds like 80% kings fans
snowave : Jesus, are there ANY Ducks fans there tonight? Pathetic.

Not sticking up for Fox but their two guys in the booth are tied for the worst with Jack Edwards.

ScarTroy : If I have to watch another period like that, and listen to Jim Fox I’m gonna f***ing lose it

So this has to be the best stretch of road games in team history, right? Or at least close to.

6 goals in 4 games for Kempe. I don't even think he's playing that great right now, but he's shooting the puck so damn well.

Nice stuff from Byfield and Grundstrom. Man if those two get the 3rd line going it will be so huge for this team. Best game of QB's NHL career IMO.

They mentioned something about that on the telecast re: the points streak as well as what, 13 of 14 away from home? So it's definitely up there. Impressive as hell what they've been doing away from LA. Now we've gott afigure something out at home...huge month ahead!

You have spent three years writing a thesis on why Turcotte will never score at the pro level, are you f***ing joking here bud?

And you spent every minute of it telling me I was wrong and coming up with excuses for the lack of production. (remember the viral infection freshman year?). Has my evaluation of the player in the Fall of 2019 been mostly right, or mostly wrong?

Yes, players who score and have a skillset like that are more valuable to a team, it is why they are generally drafted higher and paid more. But you think one player is still better than the other, you said as much last year so you obviously value the grit more than the skill, I disagree but you can think what you want. Just pointing out the narrative that skilled players can't play their game in the playoffs has largely been proven false but is still driven as fact here.

There's a reason most Ducks fans complain about Alex and Jim — they can't stand to listen to their own nightmare of a broadcast.

I love all the Quickie butthurt. I thought the Jon Gibson Jesus shtick was comical but the dude doesn't live rent free in my head like Quick does in Ducks' fans heads. Get some tasty waves, smoke a blunt or get laid, OC bros. Maybe all 3... at the same time.

Since January 1st, we are 8-1-2 on the road (our lone regulation loss coming in San Jose, a shootout loss to the Rangers, and an overtime loss to the Flyers) and just 4-4-0 at home (with losses to the Predators, Lightning, Avalanche, and Oilers).

Maybe it's in our best interest to not have home ice advantage

On what part of it? The skilled part or the Brown/AA part of it? I remember the days on this board when Patrick Kane, arguably the greatest American born player of all-time and a first ballot Hall of Famer was called a "passenger" while all the credit for their success in 2010 went to Toews because he was the gritty one. I think skilled players have been very unappreciated on this particular forum by a lot of members because it's not been the Kings way for the past 16 years, just my observation.

As far as AA and Brown? I don't think either one should be playing regularly. I said on this board last year I didn't want AA back, as he is nothing more than a mercenary who can get you 15 un-impactful goals, if he were waived tomorrow it would be no loss to anyone. Brown I think can still be a solid veteran 13th forward, but should not be playing every night. My only dispute was placing all of the blame on them for the struggles of another player.

As a duck fan that generally watches the opposing teams broadcast because I don’t care for Hayward(who admittedly has gotten better over the years), fox and edwards are the worst…. And that has nothing to do with fox being kings guy as I was a big fan of bob miller

The only one he may have been better was the game vs. the Rangers. Now it's time to follow it up with a strong game and try and build some momentum and keep the confidence.

Kempe is over .5 GPG. Who was the last King to have .5GPG over a full season. Was it Ziggy Palffy?
