I think we can agree that he hasn’t shown anything remotely close to rookie Kopitar. But yeah he at least needs a real shot to prove if he is or isn’t. Tmac is ruining him

TMac's job this year is to make the playoffs, not to strictly develop young players, last season would have been a great time to have him up and taking his lumps for the 50+ game regular season. Instead the Kings had him playing in practice facilities in a watered down AHL.

He's gotta grow and learn, that's part of it. I'm just not seeing anything worth harping on tonight. It's literally Byfield solo retrieves puck from boards, hits winger who flubs it, puck ends up deep, restart, rinse repeat. No one is going to be the 'savior' with that kind of shit, it's not just like he has wingers who can't finish and he's not scoring, he has wingers who cannot make basic plays at this point (Brown) or cannot process the game at a pro level (AA).

It's just harping that the 3rd line is again the most useless line for the Kings. I don't think anyone is putting all of the blame on him, or even most of it. I also wouldn't say he is currently some dynamic player being completely held back by his linemates. He needs to be better himself too.

Kempe has mediocre hockey sense at best

Oh yeah, for sure. He is a guy with a 1st line skill-set and a below-avg game sense. He has made great strides but it will never be a strength. If you put his skills on Danault or Moore you'd have a point-per-game player.

I just see a lot of people expecting "more" out of Byfield as if McDavid himself could turn that shit soup into filet mignon. I know it's not 'blame' but it's unrealistic expectations.

A big part of the kings making the playoffs is when Byfield shows to be a top 6 center so he should be setting byfield up for success because it’s a massive net positive for their playoff chances

I'd be willing to bet that the Kings have to be near the top in # of times per PP that the puck touches the boards. You watch the great PP's in the league and they don't really use the boards to move the puck. With the Kings they run it like they are playing 5 on 5.

What’s so frustrating about this game is that the Kings are losing because of coaching. Not because of bad effort. Not because the oilers are doing good. Todd’s just ruining this team with the lines and refusal to adjust
The Kings are losing? Did I miss a goal?

Danault is a stud. Love the way he plays the game.

Even then why is Vilardi still ostracized ? What has AA done to usurp him?

I don't think the Kings feel he can skate well enough to keep up in the NHL (right or wrong).

No other reason why so many other people have been given shots and he hasn't. Vilardi is not a kid anymore, nothing to gain from that level as far as development.

I mean give me byfield right now with any combination of Turcotte-Vilardi-Grundstrom-JAD and I guarantee a third line that can do something with the offensive minutes they should be getting. And right there you can quarantine all your PP 'specialists', even a Tkachev, if you had a creative coach.
