You gotta give Byfield a chance. He needs more time.
I think he deserves a much better chance and Todd is setting him up for failure for sure. Obviously his confidence is low due to the circumstances however on an individual level he hasn’t done much. Like lizotte on the fourth line was more noticeable when he joined the Kings.

Not a damn thing has changed over the break. The problems are still the problems. Brown somehow got older instead of refreshed. AA still has no idea hockey is played with teammates. Maatta is back to his original form. The PP is overpassing. The shooters have no killer instinct. TM still cannot adjust.
And we still might win!! Lol I'm just trying man..

LOL at any Byfield criticism tonight. How many times does he have to hit his wingers in the stick to get out of the zone? His only options are 1. Give it to Brown, watch it go through his blade; 2. Give it to AA, watch him spin away from it; 3. Give it to Maatta, instant turnover; 4. Give it to Roy, 50/50 chance; 5. Dump it out himself.

Honestly it's pretty amazing how many times Brown flubs receiving a pass. Is it any wonder why Byfield's best shift was when he was out there with Kaliyev and Lemieux for that short period of time

They're playing well as a team. I just figured time off would help shore up the weaknesses but nope TM has actually doubled down on the stupidity.

We're going to make pp1 happen no matter what, and we're going to make Byfield work with AA and Brown, forget Grundstrom and anyone else with energy or concept of team play.

I don't know if it's "criticism" per se. There is potential but there is also stuff that needs to be figured out, and should have been figured out last season when the team was going nowhere. Changing his linemates are not going to change that part of the equation. He is not Kopitar-good at the same age, as much as people want to will it. Kopitar was playing with Kyle Calder and Scott Thornton a lot of that season.

He should be playing on the PP though, that much we can all agree on.

I think we can agree that he hasn’t shown anything remotely close to rookie Kopitar. But yeah he at least needs a real shot to prove if he is or isn’t. Tmac is ruining him

He's gotta grow and learn, that's part of it. I'm just not seeing anything worth harping on tonight. It's literally Byfield solo retrieves puck from boards, hits winger who flubs it, puck ends up deep, restart, rinse repeat. No one is going to be the 'savior' with that kind of shit, it's not just like he has wingers who can't finish and he's not scoring, he has wingers who cannot make basic plays at this point (Brown) or cannot process the game at a pro level (AA).

What’s so frustrating about this game is that the Kings are losing because of coaching. Not because of bad effort. Not because the oilers are doing good. Todd’s just ruining this team with the lines and refusal to adjust
Blake has front row seats. Hope he can wake the f*** up

Dustin Brown: 16.67% CF%. AA 25%. Mostly against Foegele, RNH, McLeod.

kaliyev, Durzi, Bjornfot, Kopitar, Iafallo--75-90%.

No one in the front office should be watching this happily watching Byfield waste away with these clowns with the least minutes amongst forwards and with no offensive/PP time. Just f***ing send him to Ontario already if you're content having the worst third line in the league for the rest of the year since you're married to your shitty vets and your f***ing braindead definition-of-insanity coach.

This team has a severe lack of killer instinct on the powerplay, hell it seems like they've been lacking killer instinct since I've been watching them. That one instant before the period ended Iafallo recovered a loose puck near the crease and his first thought was dishing the puck to Drew instead of just trying to jam the puck is what I'm talking about. You have to know when there's blood in the water and attack.

Adrian Kempe alone at the top of the circles...passes to a player behind the goal-line. The Oilers broadcast was basically laughing at it.

Well this is a big 3rd period for the Kings.

Kempe has mediocre hockey sense at best

the old boys club mentality is what is making Tmac feel no real pressure to do any kind of improvement. They’re ruining byfield with zero interest of saving him
