Byfield had a bad shift that led to the first goal. He missed a great chance all alone in front(side) of the net and passed it to the corner, then it snowballed into a bad read skating up ice to head for the boards and lost the puck at the blueline that lead to a turnover and goal. The rest of the game he went MIA. The same can be said on about 5-6 players that all sucked tonight., some bone head plays led to goals or great chances.

The only positive was Durzi and stealing a point we didn't deserve.

It's always funny that this board is so quick to jump on rookies for making a bad pass or not finishing their chances but letting veterans totally skate on not only the above but on flat out lack of effort on D, missing defensive assignments, and losing battles all over the ice.

Agree on Durzi and Bjornfot quietly had a pretty monster game as well, and Arvidsson was our best forward. No one else wanted to get their hands dirty.

Anyway, here comes a soft tumble down the standings, hope these guys stop sniffing their own farts long enough to realize they're not good enough to cruise to victories with half-efforts and their A- game, never mind worse (like tonight, solid B-). IF they want the playoffs, they have to bring it every single night--and I don't think they're dedicated enough to do that as a whole. Tonight they were physically and mentally lacking.

I said 5-6 players can also be pointed out as having a shit game. Would be nice for once to stop blaming linemates, nobody told QB to pass to the corner when he was alone in front of the net. He was off after that, live and learn for the kid.

No, but there were several times he backchecked an oddman break and had to try to cover 2 guys while Maatta, Brown, AA figured out which end of the rink they were supposed to be on.

I can handle a kid f***ing up learning on the job, I cannot suffer 20 year veterans not crossing the blueline with any urgency.

And if people got this upset every time Brown or AA made a bad pass you'd have written "Ulysses" twice over already.

Well that's on Blake for keeping and signing these guys to form the roster, and TMac for not properly managing the deployments. How long do we need to keep that PP1 going, we get scored on more than we actually score.

In a game where the top line was exceedingly quiet until the final seconds, with a monumentally poor read between Doughty/Iafallo on the PP, down to 5 D, and a road afternoon game on the east coast, I guess a point isn't terrible. But yeah, that first line was mouse level quiet.

missed the last 2 periods back down in the septic system..

that durzi deke and pass was insane, the danault feed was crazy enough. great play. what a blessing netting durzi out of that muzzin trade

how typical to tie it up late then shit the bed in OT though, sounds like some tmac wizardry

Right. on one hand, yay, with a B- effort and a lot of shit going wrong, we got a point.

But on the other hand, we've had way more of those efforts than the A level efforts lately, the inconsistencies have creeped back in and some of the vets who were previously elevating their play are consistently playing off again. And if Anderson is down any significant length of time and we end up with a left side of Bjornfot/Maatta/Wolanin, we're gonna be in for a ride.

It's also pretty clear that a third line of AA-Brown and ANYONE won't work from a defensive standpoint, with how many two way forwards we have on the roster you would think it would be easy to not f*** that up, but...

same problems.. previous owner of the home took it upon himself to do some terracing with a tractor where the leach line is and destroyed segments in the process. think i've found all the collapsed pipes now after digging a nice 4 foot deep hole to find an abandoned older line............... gotta replace maybe 5 feet more and i think it's golden. nice thing about the jetter is when it blasts up out of the ground, at least you know where the problem is.................... :ha:

and i'm a high class individual, i solely use my bidet, thank you very much!

Anytime you can score with the goalie pulled its a positive, that has obviously not been a strong area for the Kings so nice to see them steal a point. But 2-5 in OT, 4-7 in games tied after regulation. The OT system just really magnifies the Kings weaknesses as a roster. If the Kings are serious about trying to get into the playoffs Blake needs to get another scorer, even if it's an expiring contract of a 2nd liner for say a 2nd round pick they need to be better on the PP and bat atleast .500 in the 3 on 3/shootout format. The last 2 games they gave away the extra point to an Eastern team, but down the stretch it'll be division opponents we are giving the 2nd point too.

It can be a winger and they can slide Moore down a line which gives the Kings an elite bottom six option while also making the top 6 stronger offensively.

Let's be real, unless that player is 30+, he isn't sniffing the PP or OT or the top six for that matter.

Taking this thread from hfboards to hgtv.

Are we reading the same board?

Agreed. It would also be nice to deploy Durzi-Doughty 5 on 5 every once in a while. In the meantime I would move AA up with Kopitar and Kempe and Iafallo with Byfield, Brown. That should stabilize all the lines.

Yeah, Byfield had a rough game. I wish he was playing with a guy like Iafallo to help him on the defensive side of things. That seems to be a theme amongst rookies: defensive struggles. It doesn't help that he's paired with two of our worst defensive players in Athanasiou and Brown either.
Too bad the Kings traded J Carter he would have been the perfect mentor and could have played the RWing on Byfield's line

Are we reading the same board?

I think so. Byfield makes one actual bad pass and one actual bad read and people are all over that play, but no praise for his multiple hard backchecks to break plays up. Brown makes those exact same mistakes literally multiple times a shift multiple times a game and people are rationalizing his usage and saying he shouldn't be benched. Or because AA sniped from the corner once we're just okay with him flying the zone and not checking literally anyone.

The 19 year old is getting the critical eye, the 37 year old vet escapes criticism because people are so mad Byfield couldn't cover 3 dudes they don't notice Dustin's barely crossed the red line. One stands to learn from it, one has learned it long ago and doesn't practice it.

Byfield wasn't good today and it wasn't because of his wingers. Looked just like one of his weak AHL games from last season.

Breaking News....

Hockey players are human, have consistency issues......The few games at the beginning of the year, were 100% fantastic....and 100% untenable, not excusing today's game in the least, but get some goddamn context people......

This board, and it could be every board, but I only read this one....holy f*** all, you'd think they were on a goddamn mega coaster the way this board reacts.....to everything.
