yes I realize that - 3rd line only open spot for a center, but if you saddle him with brown, at least give him a shooter or another high IQ - so the gripe is with Grundstrom specifically

Vilardi played his way down to Ontario already, and Frk has 3 times as many AHL games as he does NHL games at the age of 28. There is just something Frk doesn't do to stick in the league. 3 different organizations, cheap contracts every time he has to be re-signed. The fascination we have with him, it's like whatever is going on between TM and Kopitar. We're just dying for him to play, for what seems to be no reason. He has 19 goals in 120 career games. You know who has a better goals per game average, in almost the same amount of games? Grundstrom, while being 4 years younger.

Brown and Grundstrom are not good wings for Byfield. There has to be a better option for those wing slots. Do you agree or disagree with those two statement? If you dont agree then we have nothing left to discuss. If you do agree -then who would you like to see on the wings w QB.

LMFAO the after show is giving praise to Petersen. They showed highlights and all the highlights was easy shots and massive rebounds from them lmao

i mean he did enough to keep it at 2GA which i can't really ask for more.. it was a rather shaky 2GA but it was nonetheless

Army made a few comments like the rebound control there - but hey he stuck it out and they won ( i read between the lines w his comments he wasnt too pleased)

In reality, that's who is going to be playing with him right now. There's no realistic scenario where you can make it different, assuming the other 3 lines are staying the way they are.

And was my point.. they dont want to put a 3M player in the AHL because of the optics. Or are you suggesting another reason?

Yeah, and that's not just a Kings thing. Putting multi-million dollar contracts in the AHL in rare as it is, and the Kings already have Wagner down there.

If Grundstrom is eligible to be sent down without waivers, I still believe Vilardi would be a better option - and also to see if we can get his trade value up - but mainly to give Byfield some better IQ to work with. I think Vilardi could use another shot might help him mentally. But it seems his attitude may be an issue internally because he did admit he's not that thrilled about playing wing - and that is not something you discuss w the press.. so my guess is he is in the doghouse.

What an ugly f***ing game. Reminds me of the Seattle win. Not a whole lot of confidence going into tomorrow. TM seems to think we corrected the bad habits, I sure didn't think so. Lack of focus mistakes, big minute players being lazy/tired. I watched Toby shadow a dude step for step for an entire 4v4 shift and when he handed him off to Doughty Drew just whacked him once and let him skate away. f***ing sick of this shit.

Loved us blowing guys up left and right though. Tonka blasting Hughes then stepping right up is nice. He knows what's up.

While it's nice to eek out another ugly win on the road against a team we're 'supposed' to beat it's still a step backwards from where we've been.

Brown needs to be benched, and Kopitar and Doughty need minutes reduced immediately. I'm not even going to bother arguing about it any more, it's readily apparent to the eye test AND any stats. They're f***ing ridiculous and the only players on the team on the wrong side of the ledger consistently lately (other than Maatta but he's just stupid, he's overplayed the moment he gets ice time).

Thank god we're wasting Turcotte and Kupari on the bench, Frk has like 10 points in the last two nights in Ontario, he sure couldn't help the PP. With so many options it is absolutely insane that we're doing the same shit over and over and over. Sturm needs to be fired yesterday; it's not like the PP is something that can't be changed mid season, it's not a giant system. We'd be better off throwing kids out there and improvising at this point than letter Kopitar staple his ass to the half wall for another second.

Like I said, exactly how I felt after the Seattle game. Expecting a lazy loss tomorrow and a 28 minute game from drew and 24 from Kopitar.

Oh and the ice time to positive stats ratio is basically exactly what you'd expect, almost completely inverse relationship.

Kopitar played his bag off and got crushed to the tune of NEGATIVE 20% CF rel against a 170 pound 23 year old and his 150 pound friend he buys beer for.

Lizotte played about half of Kopitar and dominated to the tune of 72% CF%, 26% rel mostly against dudes twice his size.

If you're seriously going to conitnue playing the top two lines 4o minutes a game then fill the bottom six with guys like Vilardi Tkachev Turcotte Byfield Frk and others who can do something besides drool and gasp for breath on the special teams. But it would just be better if you evened out the icetime like a good coac....oh nm.

Having Kempe back gives a little hope - but for the first time in a while, they got outpaced for long chunks of time... esp in the 3rd trying to preserve the win. That seems more like an effort problem to me. Kempe def helps set the tone for the team, hoping his presence will give them the spark.

The Kings definitely are showing an improvement in the W/L column compared to last season. In a vacuum, I think most would agree we're happy with that. The problem is the on-ice product is looking a lot like the 2016 and 2018 fool's gold playoff seasons, but worse. It's on the backs of aging veterans and over-reliance on them. That doesn't excite me at all. Most want something sustainable, not one and done then miss the playoffs again. If Kopitar were 24, then we'd be in business. He's 34 and looking his age. TMc needs to take him off the first PK unit ASAP. That should be Danault's job. He's a better defensive center at this point and it's quite obvious he is and this PK "strategy" that's being used is completely exposing Kopi's weaknesses.
