This is only his third season. Two more after this.

You got to lock up a has-been coach for five years/five million when you get the chance.
I mean no coach will come to LA unless they are given at least five years and made the top paid coach in the NHL.

I thought it was discussed somewhere that the five year deal was meant to take some leverage away from the players. They had three coaches in three years, if you can count WillieD.

I don't remember seeing that but I can agree with it.

That being said, if, at this point, you are dissatisfied with how your players have responded, it's time to trade the players that have had what, 5 coaches in 5 years? They may respond well and play better elsewhere, see Jeff Carter, but it's clear you've gotten all you can out of them in LA regardless of coach. That would also likely be Blake's only way to save himself as I imagine he's as cuffed to McLellan as DL was to Sutter.

On the ATKM pod, friend of the board, Jesse Cohen, has espoused the idea that one of the reasons Coach Todd was gifted his contract was staying power. He makes big bucks and isn’t going away quickly.

It only took him two years to eliminate Jeff Carter’s scant value, and even then the Kings remain on the hook for a portion of his salary while he is #5 on the penguins in scoring.

To be honest, it only took Malkin and Crosby out for lengthy periods to get there, I mean.....I get it, but that's such a f***ed way to evaluate things,

Oh Look, McCellan ruined Carter, he's the 5th leading score in PIT, while not mentioning that Malkin hasn't played a game, and Crosby has only played 18, Crosby plays the 27 that Jeff does, Jeff doesn't get first line minutes, first line PP etc, and all of a sudden, he's what, 8th or 9th in scoring and this bullshit point isn't even brought up because it's a bullshit point.

Seems like the core inmates are still running the asylum, to me.

You must think Todd is a bargain and Blake a master negotiator.
