It's not like half the players on the roster couldn't have made that same pass. The difference is Brown is one of the slowest players if not the slowest on the team. How does he get more ice time over Kempe?
Bullshit. It wasn't just the pass -- he was a total bull in getting the puck down the ice.

Kopitar and Arvidsson needed to capitalize on those chances. You only get so many before the Lightning score.
not even just the breakaway, but the play before that where he spun off the boards and had the 2 on 1.. bearing down the slot after that nasty move and he defers to the backhand pass into a defenseman.. drives me crazy. no killer instinct on this team

There were at least three good opportunities in overtime. If our best players can't convert on breakaways, there's not a whole lot to say. Hard fought loss I guess. Lightning are a great team and we didn't look completely outmatched. But I'm pretty concerned with Kopitar these days.

Lightning dont have their two best forwards. Its a tough team but that game was winnable. Bad coaching that started in the first, repeated the same mistake in the second, and then a highly questionable decision that last shift that ended overtime.
That loss was on the coach. Players played well even whipping boys Brown and Maatta.

Nobody wanted the puck in OT. Nobody.

Well except Arvidsson but of course

I was about to post during the game "every time Brown touches the puck Sarah McLachlin eats a puppy from the ASPCA" but then he had a monster shift where everything went right and that's presumably the only thing TM saw all night because there is no reason he should get three shifts in OT. No matter what kind of game he has at this point, you absolutely have to get younger legs out there for 3v3.

Overtime is all about possession, you can't have a winger in arvidsson out there taking the draw. Took two and lost both. Second lost draw led to the game winner. Doesn't look like he knows how to hold the stick.
Yea they have 4 centers on the team all capable of taking a shift plus a batch of centers ready to take the next step in the minors and they trot out arvidsson to take faceoffs in overtime. Its not even like arvidsson and brown are tearing it up this year and scoring. Just doesnt make any sense really. You cant blame the players even cause they went out there and did what we all expected. How do random folks on a message board see it and the coach cant.

Kopitar only has 2 assists and 0 goals in his last 6 games. I think it's just a slump. We have seen worse streaks. He is still doing the right things, just looks a little gassed out there.

I thought Kopitar skated well today.

I expect a lot more from Kopitar than 'just getting by.'

He was winning his battles but there was nothing more emblematic of his play than streaking up the wing then casually passing the puck to Hedman on a contested 2-on-1 with a clear view of the net.

That conversation in the other thread about his overall demeanor being passive was very, very unfortunately timely. Eminently winnable game sabotaged by shit coaching and a lack of killer instinct, how many one goal leads do we want to lose this year, because I'm not comfortable calling such a mentally weak group 'progress' as long as that's happening.

Hopefully this game was the aberration and the last ones are the new pattern but the larger season sample size says otherwise so cross your fingers and fasten seatbelts.

5-10 in 1 goal games after tonight.

Not gonna complain, overall the team is playing pretty well. Before tonight, only 5 teams had taken points from TB on their ice out of 13 chances.

Traditionally this trip has always been a killer, how many times have we gotten absolutely slaughtered on this swing? It's always been the hell trip like when others went through LA, SJ, and ANA when we were all good. If they play like this against Florida they have a good chance.

Must do something with line one. Put Iafallo back there and move Brown to line 3.
Would consider calling up Vilardi and putting on RW with Danault, move Arvy to LW.
Or try Kaliyev or Lemieux line 2. AA has been pretty bad...Lias Andersson, not much better.
I know he has more than he's shown last 2 games, but has never had 5 consecutive games
on the same line.

Line 1 needs life and AI is an answer.
