HOLY f*** ME IN THE ASS WHAT A FANTASTIC OPENING NIGHT FOR THE BOYS AND THE FANS!!!

* Danault is $$$
* All the lines looked good. Trevor Moore was the stand out in the 1st period.
* Arvidsson didn't take as many shots as he'd prolly like but he was all over the ice and obviously had some nifty passes
* Tkachev has such great vision. Will be nice to see how he leads that PP throughout the season. That Brownie move he had in the 1st at full speed, or was it the 2nd? was so beautiful to see.
* Kempe was flying out there. Thank God because he was absent in pre-season. His flow is back, baby!
* Edler took a pounding ::cough Lizotte but that break-up on the 3-1 was like a goalie in soccer guessing correctly on a penalty shot. Absolutely unreal play.
* Would have liked to see Max Pacioretty get the piss beat out him by Lemieux in the 2nd. f***er had a cold shoulder on Elder, hit Lizotte late, and then nearly knocked out Cal. That was an easy penalty call. Refs can't let that shit go next time
* I love how much Stone's mouth is wide open after a goal or an assist but don't mind him getting hurt to open the season. f*** VGK and their fans! Lehner is not taking that team back to the Finals being in net.

I'm dying. Some things to clean up. What a beatdown for VGK. Stone may miss some time. Pacioretty getting pissed. Kings are much more annoying to play against this year. 19/24/9 so much cycling.

Btw for all the jokes about it being a 3-2 league. It’s going to be damn hard to beat the Kings if they score 3 when you run Kopi/PD for nearly 40 mins of the game.

Holy f*** what a game!!! Dodgers win and the Kings blowing out the Knights!!! I think the only thing I didn't like was Cal's first goal, but other than that, top to bottom they dominated them all night long. There's so many players to compliment I can't name them all.

What I loved the most about the game was it was completely different from any kind of game we saw last season. Everyone was decisive, tenacious, execution was on point. Literally everything that we didn't do last year.

I'm not getting ahead of myself because its game 1 of 82, but I don't remember being that satisfied with a win in a long time.

Just got back from the game. A couple notes. First off it was pretty damn awesome timing that the bottom of the ninth inning of the Dodgers game happened during the second intermission. It was on the scoreboard and the arena was going nuts. Dieter Ruehle on the organ was awesome. He had the place pumped up chanting let's go Dodgers. When I saw Scherzer out there to close I about lost my shit.

That was the most comprehensive Kings victory that I've seen in years. Certainly the best forecheck probably since 2014. How nice is it to pin Vegas in their defensive zone for a couple minutes at a time.

The defense was nails. Danault is a killer. That guy was just terrorizing Vegas all night. The Kings had their scouting report down. They sniffed out Vegas and their cherry picking strategy repeatedly. During the first half of the game they tried leaking out players over and over only for it to be intercepted. I'm not sure how evident it was on TV but apparently that was their transition game plan.

Kopitar was a beast but I was really hoping that Arvidsson was going to cash in at least one of those scoring opportunities and open his goalscoring account with the Kings. They're going to go in eventually. He's just getting way too many opportunities for it not to happen.

Guys this was an absolute ass kicking of Vegas. I was amazed at how good the breakouts were and how good the defense was at intercepting passes and immediately getting the puck going the opposite direction. Mikey and Tobi are definitely not rookies anymore. Drew sending a message that he still exists. Was Pietrangelo even out there tonight? I swear he was a ghost.

Anyway hopefully this is a sign of things to come. Let's see what happens on the weekend.

The TOI spread was glorious. That's perfect. This is a deep team playing an aggressive system so you'll need that. When your LEAST played d-man has 16 and a half, that's good.

Props where they're due, TM said they're getting away from the 1-3-1 and holy f*** did they ever

to borrow from bellingers post game interview, I'm pretty glad the vets shoved it right up my complaining ass in the first game, those guys were possessed

Those unimpressed by Danault need to just watch his goal shift. Clean faceoff win, few won battles, few great passes, drive net hard, score. Guys is a hockey player's hockey player, he just makes stuff so easy for teammates creating space and doing the grunt work. Lotta people clearly still trying to hate him but I don't think I'll even have to say a word from this point on.

Like I said last year, Alex Iafallo is just Anthony Cirelli on the west coast

The "Drew Doughty is rinsed" crowd will somehow miraculously have missed this game

Anze Kopitar might crack a top 50 Cs list if he keeps this up

Petersen let in a janky first goal but he was an absolute beast after that, VGK had a number of really strong looks/partial breakaways.

Arvidsson is gonna go like 10 games without a goal and rip off 20 straight

Lemieux is the perfect 4th liner and has an amazing game sense for fight timing.

That shift towards the end when Vilardi and co. hemmed in the Knights was reminiscent of the last few minutes of the 2012 Blues series when they just could not even touch the puck. Absolutely toying with them.

Just gonna bask in the glory of the Dodgers and Kings and pretend LAL don't exist tonight, lol. Great start to the season!

Vegas beaten soundly. savagely. You love to see it.

What a night. Watched 3 innings of the Dodger game...switched to Kings, watched 1st period....then switched back to Dodger game and watched them close it out...and then watch periods 2 and 3.

Enjoyed reading the last 4 pages and cannot add much. Tkachev takes his thing from pre-season to reg season and brings it on the PP. He can slow things down and then hit any teammate in the ozone with a pass. Backchecks, gets open all the time and is just so smart. The first Russian since Voynov, that easily transitions in to this team. His final touch, was when Gabe was kicked out of the faceoff, Tkachev took it and cleanly won the draw too. Great hands.

Kudos to Blake for not dealing any of the kids and adding: Trevor Moore (with 2 3rd rd picks from Tor Campbell / Clifford) Adding Lias Andersson for 2nd rounder and adding Lemieux for a 4th rounder. These 3 players will be a big part of this team, in the bottom 6. Lias has stepped up his game...Moore is underrated and contributes all over the ice and Lemieux actually has some game and will help enforce...if he was not on this team, Vegas could have taken more liberties, tonight. After I saw Lemieux pummel Josh Manson, he's pretty legit mid-heavyweight and I think he will be important part of the team. He's netted 12 before, for that matter.

And of course, not just those 3, but adding Arvidsson, Danault, Tkachev and Edler. That was not just a win...it was a slaughter and could have easily been 9-2.

Oh, nearly forgot, there's not a more gutless player in the NHL than Patches. From both his playoff disappearances to hiding from the consequences of his actions...the next time he hits a player who is facing him and aware will be the first. So, so glad to watch that guy go down with the ship.

I think everyone now gets the form of the vets in preseason doesn’t matter. As they aren’t trying to win a roster spot it’s sole purpose for them is to get personally prepared for game 1. I think it’s fair to say Kopi, Brown and DD had a perfect preseason.

It is just one game but it sets a tone and should ensure full buy in for the season. I’m not getting carried away but it’s a perfect start.

Minnesota next so I'm not expecting much but a circus there. I'll be out of town fortunately so I can commit that one to DVR and decide whether or not to burn the tape depending on reaction.

Vegas was really bad. I'm not sure if tonight's result was more due to the King's play, or Vegas's terrible play. I'll take it though.

Edler struggled out there. He looks done.

I'm don't know if Tkachev-Vilardi-Kaliyev is gonna work.

I think Lias goes back on that line, when he comes back. He and Gabe have been awesome together. Lias has been playing good in all 3 zones and was the best forechecker
in the pre-season. Maybe Arthur goes back to Ontario, who knows?

I think that line benefits heavily from Andersson's skating and grinding. Kaliyev is awesome and in theory those guys feeding him is perfect but I think him and Vilardi are both of below average skating and Tkachev isn't a burner so that hurts.

Kaliyev might be better served with Danault-Kempe-Iafallo or something, but I'm assuming he just goes down to annihilate the AHL when Lias returns.

Total 180 from last seasons garbage. We’ll see if this is the start of something or just a one off.

VGK looks like crap to start the season, and hopefully that means another playoff spot opportunity for the Kings.

Go Kings Go!

Finished watching the game properly now. Firstly Arvidsson and Kopitar look like they will play together fine. Arvidsson’s speed is really going to help Kopi with the transition side of thee game.

Doughty’s feed for Browns opener was great, the finish even better. Nice job for two old has beens.

Danault scored but lost some face-offs. He sucks :naughty:

Tkachev, that pass for Kopi’s ppg was seriously nice. It also forced Kopitar to shoot more centrally rather than from the half wall. Our PP will look different this year.

Loved the ice time distribution and loved that Lemieux and Lizotte are clearly working to stay in the lineup. Lemieux, if he keeps this up, will prove to be a great pickup. I like the system change and the execution/buy in. Add Byfield and Andersson and this is a seriously good side but I’m not sure how they all fit - what a great problem to have. But they will make mistakes as the young guys get more ice time, so let’s not have a hussy fit when that happens. Equally, to be balanced, let’s not predict a deep cup run off the back of one win.

I think one of Tkachev or Kaliyev should be on a line with Andersson and Vilardi, but probably not both. I wouldn't mind seeing Kaliyev up with Kopitar or Danault at some point but he's honestly probably just best served down in Ontario for another year to work on his skating.

That second line was nails. Kempe is snakebitten for sure (just like Arvidsson), but trying to play against Iafallo and Danault at the same time is just brutal. Those guys are really good.

After sucking wind the entire preseason, the vets ate their Wheaties and came out f***ing swing. For the first time since 2014, I saw pride, passion, and power!
