One of the criticisms I've heard of Byfield is that he fades in games. Could be a conditioning issue.

When I think of #21, I can’t help but think of Nikita Scherbak’s girlfriend.

she was the real MVP.

In the comments, Robert’s says “he has been grinding all summer”.

he looks pretty ripped to me. This is going to be a very exciting camp.

I was just perusing our Cap Space stuff.....

You know what? Right now, hypothetically speaking, we could probably get away with trading all of our "dead cap" (what's owed to Phaneuf, Richards, and Carter) to the Sharks and get Evander Kane. That's how bad Kane's reputation is (right now!) and how desperate the Sharks are to trade him. Heck, they might even retain some salary in the deal. But would we want him?

EDIT: Watch. There's gunna be some blockhead who immediately chimes in with "you're not allowed to trade 'dead cap' items....."

I make the mistake of reading the main board.

People are saying good things about the Kings in the Most Improved Team thread.
People like our offseason movies and our future.

You just set yourself up for disappointment.

kidding aside, I have not felt this optimistic about the Team's future in a long time.

Roberts and Suter were my favorite players growing up. Roberts had a neck injury that ended his time in Calgary. I wonder if Eichel has reached out.

Agree, I always really liked Roberts, and not just after his fitness epiphany and comeback

I will never understand why the Flames never claimed him on waivers his last season. The Flames were a playoff team and needed RW depth, the panthers waived him and he cleared.
I really think it was a blunder for the Flames and not just from a PR perspective, but because I think he could have helped that team alot.

He wore 3?

for LA yup, not sure why I thought of him though. He wore 7 in Columbus and elsewhere I think. I remember when the Carter trade happened the Blue Jackets were letting fans bring their Carter jerseys and were swapping the name bar to Johnson free of charge.

Hard pass, don't want anything to do with him or his contract. By the time the cap matters for this team it'll only be Richards and will be less than 1% of the overall cap.

He had an incredible season last year and looked to turn a corner. I hope he gets his act together and cleans up all the drama. He's still very talented.

I don't think you can trade Richards and Dion's cap penalties anyway.
As for Kane, love watching the guy play but he has burned too many bridges in other locker rooms not to be concerned about his impact in the room. Pass for me.

I've made my position on Kane clear. Hell no.

Even if the betting investigation clears him, he still has any number of issues from his bankruptcy case that could torpedo his career. the fraud accusations could go criminal, the marker to an unnamed casino could end up being one in vegas, or when they trace where he spends his cash, a worst case scenario could be they find out he has an undisclosed coke habit for all we know.

Any single one of those issues could get him serious immigration trouble. We've had enough of players with those type of problems.

No team is going to trade anything of value with the above looming over his head.

Kane is signed for 4 more years at 7M per.

Considering all of his off-ice shenanigans, it's pretty surprising how productive he's been on the ice.

I'd imagine he'd probably be a great player if he had his shit together.

Being a pro athlete and earning millions of dollars, only to squander it all, and be broke in your 40's with no job skills has got to be one of the worst feelings.

Kane his headed down that path. Many pro athletes end up like that.

Agreed. Not to mention that a lot of being a pro athlete is trading a lot of personal freedom into giving their all towards building and pushing their bodies to the extreme. I'd say most athletes end up with debilitating injuries and/or chronic pain at the end of their careers, but part of that trade-off is most are retired by the ages of 35-40 and can relax for the rest of their lives. To make that trade and end up with nothing at the end is just tragic.
