At the moment lots of teams are going to be looking to shake things up and have little to no cap space to do it. Blake should wait and see who comes to him with deals...and then bend them over a table.
I don't trade for ANY of those guys who are gonna be UFAs shortly, especially with the rumors surrounding them (ie Werenski wanting to go home to Det) and our inability to sign key UFAs. That would be poor asset management.
If I am the Kings and Blake, I make a run at Nylander. Leafs need some reasonably priced D and some draft picks back. They also need some bottom 6 grit. These are all things Kings have a ton of.
Phillip Danault had a heck of a series shutting down Austin Matthews. It doesn’t up on the score sheet, but it was masterful.
He got himself a raise in free agency.
Werenski is RFA in 22-23. Have a few years to sell him in L.A. We also heard Drew was going to Toronto and look what happened.
Would love to get Werenski
yep. Fits every need we have back there. Big, mobile, great shot and can pump goals in on the PP.
What I want is Werenski and Landeskog. I know Landeskog is a pipe dream but would love a skilled hardnose player up front.
what we will get will be Kessel and a vet Left shot Dman and told that Clague looks ready to take the next step
After the poor effort last night, Toronto is going to have to blow things up. Talk about a lack of character and desire. I would say only Matthews and possibly Tavares are off the table. With their cap situation being what it is, they almost have to move Marner. Any interest?

Come on, he was right in the middle of the ice when he shot the puck over the glass in game 6...None whatsoever.
There are a lot of ways to produce goals without spending $11 million per year on a soft perimeter player who is a proven playoff failure. He can't handle pressure. No, thanks.
The leafs need to take a deep breath, sit on this loss for week or two and then look at their team.
The thing they are missing most, IMO, is a shit disturber. Someone who when the energy is stale gets things going.
What they are missing is a guy who wants to win so badly that he will force others to elevate their game. Guys like that are hard to find.
I think Fox mentioned him a couple months ago as well in an offhand manner.A detroit poster just said that they could see Bertuzzi being moved. Not sure what his contract demands would be (he is a RFA), but I hope Blake checks in on that.

Leafs need to fix their depth issue up front and get a good RH shot on the PP. They brought in grit but sacrificed speed. They looked slow with Foligno, Spezza, Thornton, and Simmonds out there. They need a guy like Blake Coleman, Casey Cizikas, etc. that forecheck with speed and grit.
None whatsoever.
