The argument that it was a numbers game to explain the loss of Clague for nothing is a weak one. His performance in 11 games was good enough for a waivers claim. And there was no prospect better who was going to supplant him this season.
If he had continued to perform you could have made a trade when a guy like Fabre or Clarke was available in 10 months from now.
He's also not Scandinavian, none of his family relations played with Blake in the past and he probably isn't very good a beach volleyball.
