Not sure that I agree with your top 6 statement but I do respect your opinion. In my mind the USA has 5 first round forwards Canada has 10 overall.

Its close to me, but I give the edge to USA due to how many shooters they could have in their top six along with two very good playmakers.

Kailyev - Turcotte - Caufield
Robertson - Zegras - Wahlstrom

vs

Lafreniere - Veleno - Foote
Byfeild - Hayton - Cozens

Oranges and apples. The Canadian top 6 that you show are on the first two lines and not necessarily the top 6 forwards. Certainly the USA top forwards that you list are goal scorers.

To change the subject I think we're in for a treat watching the US and Russia.

Stastney has no business being there, I can get behind some of the other guys because they at least deserve it/an argument can be made but I think my defence would have been:

Samuelsson
Miller
Jones
Regula
Emberson
Wilde
York

I would've had Johnson over Regula because I think there's value in bringing along an additional 18 year old to give the team another returner for the next year, but we mostly agree.

All these ranger fans talking bad about pinto when he had 2, almost 3 goals and an assist. Yet don't hear a peep about Andre Miller lol.

Bummed I missed the game today, but it sounds like it would have made me angry.

Turcotte, Zegras, and Kaliyev with the 9th, 10th, and 11th most ice time among forwards is crazy. Those are 3 of your 6 best offensive players and they're playing 4th line minutes. What are we doing here?

I get it's a 19 year old tournament, but your 19 year olds aren't very good.

Lol at York playing one shift a period, but manning 2nd PP unit. How in the hell do you expect any player to succeed in that position?

Also, Beecher with Caufield? I can't think of two worse players to play on a line together. Caufield absolutely needs someone who can get him the puck, and Beecher is not that guy.

Seems like every year people complain about coaching, but my god that was actually terrible. How can USA hockey not understand that this is not the NCAA? Mind-boggling.

I don’t know if you are referring to me, but I absolutely did criticize Miller. At the same time, I really don’t expect him to be that good because I don’t think he’s the level of prospect that most think based on his reputation.

I think the biggest issue is going to be team defense. There isn't a single lynch pin guy on the blue line and that more than anything is going to cost this team. Sandelin can try to rally the troops but I just don't think he has the horses.

It's only one game. I think they can beat Canada down the road.

Out coached, plain and simple, line combinations are simply a disaster
To me it's pretty clear...Sandelin knows it's tough to beat a similarly skilled opponent twice in the same tournament (Exhibit A - versus Finland in last year's WJC) so he's sandbagging the group stage by putting his lines in a blender for games against Canada and Russia. In the knockout round, he'll revert back to logic and play the top 6 in their natural positions. Outside of that explanation, I've got nothing...

I actually disagree. I think this game was there for the taking for you guys if Sandelin actually played his best players. The minute distribution and line combos were dogshit. Very reminiscent of Mike Babcock's last days with us.

The over coaching this year is absolutely brutal. I thought it was Canada's problem but today I realized it was also team USA's...

If only Caufield had some chemistry with the most talented center on the team! Someone that he plays with regularly at Wisconsin! Oh, if only...

I agree .play this heck outta Robertson
Especially against canada
He plays the way they do ,and CHL coaches play their stars alot
Especially ones that deliver

You are not going to win this thing with two lines but your best players have to be in right positions where they can succeed. In 2016 tournament Ron Wilson run two top lines way too much against weaker teams. I would like to see something like this.

Robertson-Turcotte-Wahlstrom
Kaliyev-Zegras-Caufield
Beecher-Pinto-Brink
Drury-Pivonka-Hall
Ford
