The Bruins as constructed would not have beat the Lightning back in April even if every player was 100% and all players played their best! A one line team will never beat a team with the scoring and defensive depth of Tampa. Saying otherwise is seeing our team through seriously rose rose colored glasses! Tampa's best player didn't even play and 2 of their D were picked off the scrap heap and they still walked over the B's, as they did every other team to the cup! I hadn't seen that type of PO dominance since the Scabs of the seventies.
First off we don't even know that. Second Stamkos hasn't been their best player in almost half a decade. Now as for walking over the Bruins, they won 2 games in OT and 1 game by 2 goals so they really didn't walk over them. And that's with missing the best goalie in league this year and having 3 of their top 4 d playing severely under their normal performance.

According to Capfriendly we have 11 million to spend to the cap. They included Millers - 1.250,000 and Blidh, Ritchie and Lindholm.

We need to sign Grizz, Jake and probably Chara and non roster guys - Seny, Zboril, Kuhlman and Celly.

I think getting a # 1 left deeman or a pretty good one should be priority One, that will be all they can afford.

Unless they make moves that other teams made two days ago and shed cap.

Grizz and Jake may be around 6 million total or more.

Im still not sold he'll get there. He's had 1 season over 70 points in the last 6 seasons and 2 total in his career

2014-2015 38 points
2015-2016 65 points
2016-2017 53 points
2016-2017 93 point
2018-2019 37 points
2019-2020 52 points

The 93 point season was a career year for him absolutely, but Im sceptical he is that player consistently

I don't think he's that player at all personally.

From the little I've seen of Hoffman.. He seems to be a smart winger. One I would think that Krejci could give and go with.

Hoffman-Krejci-Smith (the shooter)
JDB (the shooter) - Coyle - Kase
I think so as well. Either FLA winger would be a good get. But does Sweeney have the balls.

How much do you want to bet that Sweeney is in panic mode right now?

Here comes the overpays and head scratchers.

Sweeney and Neely are so full of Crap. Major changes. Hahahahahahahaha

15 year career in the NHL.

Director of Player Development.

Director of Hockey Operations.

6 years as Assistant General Manager.
Qualified or not, he has proven he can't seem to get the job done. He was practically gifted an excellent core roster before he even stepped foot into the role, and has managed to some how never improved it (every year there are glaring holes in the line-up) and every year we get told we will see what we have in the young guys or such and such a player we acquired can play that role.

Great. Pretty much all with the same team. That doesn't prove your point at all. If anything it proves that Jacobs likes bringing in Alumni. Again, he is a crappy GM. You can say he had a 15 year career, player development, etc...

What I see is a GM coming off a game 7 loss in 2019 and his answer to fix the team's issues was to sign freaking Par Lindholm. Also neglecting the 2nd line for the 5th straight year. This year he's sitting back and evaluating a forward market that he could be fairly active in. He signed Smith. A 3rd liner who could occasionally sit up at the 2nd line. But he's more of the same that this team has been targeting the last 5 years. Sweeney keeps acquiring the same freaking player and trying to make it work.

I would have loved Krug back. But an actual NHL GM would have evaluated the trade market for him and maybe traded him for something like a top 6 forward if they had no interest in bringing him back.

I would like Hoffman or Dandonov but both on short deals.

As for overpays it will be a crap 4th liner or a crap 3rd pairing D that sits in the press box.

How is Dominik Kahun? Young, put up pretty decent numbers. A little small though. Lists his positions as LW, RW, & C so could be a versatile jack knife in the lineup.

What I would do and the more I think about it after I vented yesterday lol would be see what the hawks want for Keith see if they retain half of that .. if yes, go sign a winger. Sign Griz and JD .. stash the rest in providence cap wise until further notice . You could go a little over the cap.. no team is or has done it. Guess what will be the first.

He did though. You asked him for his qualifications and he gave them to you. Instead of constantly bitching about this team how about you go root for team more to your liking. Maybe like Carolina since your profile pic is of the Whalers.

Exactly. Don was given an Aston Martin and he's neglected an oil change, fixing the breaks, fixing the transmission, etc for the last 5 years.

In defense of sweeny and neely, it is not easy to make trade when you draft like dog shit...we can love bruins prospects but the type of players sweeny choose have very very low interest for others teams...and no way have impact to bring a very good one. If you give carlo or debrusk you just turn around and break even more the future..

That was also 5 years ago. Sweeney has no qualifications to be an NHL GM. You can also look at McAvoy. Thats two!

The fact we are having this discussion about an NHL GM is disturbing. Especially when that team is supposedly a contender. This team is not right now.

He was the AGM for 6 years prior to taking over for PC and before that was the director of player develop as well as hockey operations. Someone could correct me if I'm wrong, but IIRC Boston was also the first NHL team to start doing prospect development camps, which was organized by Sweeney.

How about this team actually does something? He was given a job based on his NHL career. Which is fine. But he's shown in the last 5 years to not have the qualifications to be a competent GM. It seems like I might be part of the majority here that remembers this song and dance from the 80s and 90s where they also pissed away that core with Bourque Neely etc...

Sweeney is an awful GM. You still didn't tell me what he's done that's so great except win an award. Wonderful. He's had a hole on the 2nd line for a half decade. His drafts have been overall lousy. His free agent signings are uninspired unless of course you're a big fan of Brett Ritchie.

I get it though. Sweeney has fans that believe he is doing a great job. I'm sure that even when the Bruins sign someone off the heap to replace Krug we'll get some mental gymnastics justifying why the move is good.

Marchand & Pasta extension
Traded for Coyle
Drafted McAvoy, Carlo, DeBrusk
Signed Halak

^Just to name a few for you.
