What matters is how shifty and slippery Rossi can be. I'm not following a lot of the highlight videos so I couldn't tell you my thoughts on it. But think about Justin Williams, he's not a great skater in terms of straight ahead speed. However, give him the puck in tight spaces around the boards and he's spinning defenders around because of his change of direction. How is his edge work? That's way more important in my opinion for a forward. If Rossi is a better playmaking version of Willy who can play center, I'd take him and run.

Yep, but Rossi has better vision. Not to knock Williams but Rossi see's the ice at a very elite level. I still believe that with power skating coaches and a couple of years that Rossi will be in the top two of this draft in so far as point production. He doesn't have great breakaway speed or at least not elite but he is right below that level. He also is a dead solid two way player and really gets on it when it comes to getting back into the play in the D zone. He is a big 5'9" for being that size. He isn't a slight small player and I think that means that he will grow the extra inch in height and fill out a bit. I share the draft big mentality but in this case I am willing to make an exception. If we are in a position to draft him (4rth or 5st overall) I would do it. Not over Stutzle Laffy but imo Rossi is the most likely to lead his draft group in scoring when he gets to the NHL. My only real concern about the guy is the same that I have for other smaller players and that is their durability. Other than that I can't see any flaws in the kid. Still, we should be, not will be but should be in a position to draft a gifted player with out pick. 1 thru 7 are all potential studs and then the drop off isn't all that big for the next several players. This could be one great draft class in time. Having 3 2nds and two 3rfsts puts us in an amazing position to significantly improve our best in the league prospect pool. Last year was one of the best drafts in Kings history imo and time will prove that out or at least imo. This year could dust last year. It is likely going to be a great weekend for us.

I liked that. Interesting read.

Not a pro scout by any means but even with the example they mentioned--Hall, Seguin, Gudbrandson--I always worry that when one league dominates the upper end of the draft that it was actually a weaker year for that league than a better year, that the top-end prospects were just picking on a weaker league that year. One of Rossi's criticisms is just that, that he absolutely destroys lesser teams and has a more reasonable PPG against stronger comp. See also last year's US team/draftees. Obviously all still top prospects, but no one came out gangbusters really. And Hall-Seguin turned out to be top-end players but not the consistently elite threats they were hyped as (and of course...there's Gudbrandson).

I also really like that they mention Rossi like Crosby, excellent stylistic comparison.
Couldn't agree more.

Made a Lafreniere hype reel - thought you guys might enjoy it :)

If there's another prospect you'd like me to cover let me know.

I've said it many times please stop posting other teams prospects hype video on our board. It's rather depressing. :sarcasm:

Wheeler: Why Jan Mysak is one of the 2020 NHL Draft's top...

I purchased Hamilton's OHL tv package so I could watch Kaliyev, and that kid Mysak can flat out play. Extremely talented in his 20+ games with Hamilton, drives play, looks to score with tenacity. He is ranked 12 in Wheeler's final top 100.

Sidebar quote: "...[Mysak's] pushing the pace in the middle section and he’s taking a defender with him to the net to free up Kaliyev’s shot (which just so happens to be the best shot in junior hockey)."

For anyone out there that haven't watched any of Hamilton games or highlights, here's the deets:
2020 NHL Entry Draft Prospect Profile: Jan Mysak

Wonder if he will still be there in the mid to late 2nd round...?

Could be bittersweet to re-unite him with Kaliyev to get our future offense going.

Mysak is one of those players who leaves his mark on games. It might not always result in scored points, but he does a lot of the little things that help drive possession for his team and shift the balance from losing games to winning them, which will help him transition to the NHL more easily than players who rely on skill alone.

I don't think he makes it to the 2nd period.

Hell I'd take him in the mid to late teens without blinking. Someone with 2 firsts will likely take the swing if no one else does. He's very worth the 'risk' imo.

I agree kid looks really good. He's gone by the time the second round comes. Some team will get really lucky I have a feeling.

I would say it is more likely Mysak makes it into the top 10 then out of the 1st round. Would lvoe him yet not realistic. Kaliyev was teens ranked yet a lot more question makers and multiple teams had him out of their 1st round.

Loved the earlier mock where we walked with Stützle, Wallinder, Savoie, and Tullio. If we walked with that it would be another 2019 type haul.

Realistically I'd love Wallinder if there yet top realistic targets personally are Lapierre and Barron with our 2nd. Both may be gone by 15-20 though yet after a few it is so open 15-50

Could see the Kings packaging 2-3 of their picks between 35-110 (7 in total) to move back up into the 1st round, chasing quality over quantity at this stage.

Saw this mic'd up clip of Canadians trading their 50th pick for two kings draft picks and that 50th became Samuel Fagamo. Trade is at 6:58 of clip. Damn would be sick if we can get into the first round with a few picks and maybe a prospect.
