Is it concussions or whatever the hell this specialist doctor says it is? I get the laughs that we'd pass because that's what this franchise does but good lord if you can pick up a guy who has top five upside at 30 you almost have to pull the trigger. Dallas can't afford to pass on ridiculous offensive talent.
He had three fairly major concussions in under 10 months.
The player and his doctors are saying that's not correct. He was diagnosed with a neck injury that was causing concussion-like symptoms.
Interesting. Hadn't seen that (I just did cursory research). Seems pretty odd yet convenient but IDK. I'd probably trust the doctor over anyone else, but that's also why NHL teams have their own medical staffs.
I hope we can make a similar trade to that trade too. I really think the Stars need some extra lottery tickets.

That's the problem. NHL doctors haven't been able to get their hands on him. They're relying on his doctors records.
oh shit 8 of our top 15 guys are still available - joe mcdonnellJust gotta hope someone covets a specific player at 30 (and we don't but lmao)

Think bigger "We have 4 guys in our top 5 still available"
I'm sure someone can find the quote, but Joe McDonnell actually talked about Lapierre and injury concerns. I think they said they checked him out and felt fine. Also mentioned he was one of the few players that games they see now might actually impact his ranking.
According to McDonnell, this hasn’t really altered the Stars draft board. McDonnell had a meeting with Stars scouts last week about recency bias and reading too much into one or two preseason performances.
“We’re not changing our list,” McDonnell said. “We made our list at the end of May or early June, and there might be the odd variance, but the only thing that has really changed is players that might have had medical issues and just seeing if they’ve had surgeries and how those went.”
McDonnell said there are two players whose injuries come to mind: center Hendrix Lapierre and defenseman Justin Barron, both out of the QMJHL, who had surgeries done after missing most of the 2019-20 season.
Stars head athletic trainer Dave Zeiss has reviewed information on procedures for both players and given his opinion to McDonnell and his staff.
“Those are probably the only things I can think of as far as changing something in the last four or five months,” McDonnell said.
