Sorry about the delay.
I screwed up and tried to draft an overager who was already drafted, I shouldn't try to select players after drinking hours have begun. Other than that, I wasn't too bothered by how my picks fell. Some years, it just doesn't work out, but for me, this year was ok.
Many drafted Kemell at 9, and Lindgren at 106. A lot of contestants got Lambert, often at 28.

Dropped in to review my picks from last season as I prepare for the 2023 MBS.

I am mostly pleased with the way my 2022 picks have progressed. To help me think about it, and compare to the other participants, I decided to put together lines/pairings.

Vidicek/Kulich/Savoie
Wagner/Sapovaliv/Gendron
Lassila

Furlong/Luneau
Hamara/Salin

Almost everyone else went with three forwards in the first round--so their top lines look better at this point. Still, I like my forward group as a whole. Sapovaliv is a big two-way talent that every team needs. Gendron's goal-scoring was good in the regular season and then amazing in the playoffs. All of Vidicek, Wagner, and Lassila made reasonable D+1 progress.

While Luneau looks like a really good pick, those who chose Hutson at 41 can argue they got an equally good (better?) D. However, given the context of the Sabres having Dahlin and Power for years to come, a right-shot D who doesn't require PP time could be more valuable. After that, I like Furlong/Salin/Hamara as much or more than any of the D taken after round 2 of MBS.

One year of development leaves tons of questions. Still, I think my 11 choices are as good as any--and slightly better than Buffalo's, at this point.

I will draft as both Buffalo and Detroit again this year. What started as a purely intellectual exercise in 2020 (Covid caused me to try new things), has become a bit more of a project.

My intent is to use publicly available information to see if I can "scout" without watching tons of junior hockey. I have a model for D prospects outside the consensus 1st round that was my original reason for joining this thread. After the first couple tries, I began to pay more attention to the forwards (still don't do much around goalies).

It will obviously take 3-5 years to gauge the success of the project. So far, I think I have done as well as professional staffs--especially for picks after lottery picks.

There are several threads about prospect pools--so I will share my top 10 for Buffalo (22-24) and Detroit (23-24).

Detroit

1. Dvorsky
2. Ritchie
3. Brandsegg-Nygard
4. Fisker-Molgard
5. Pekarcik
6. Brzustewicz
7. Marrelli
8. P Fischer
9. Jecho
10. Soini

Buffalo (after Savoie trade)*

1. Kulich
2. Luneau
3. Ritchie
4. Helenius
5. Fisker-Molgard
6. Brunicke
7. Brzustewicz
8. Sapovaliv
9. Marrelli
10. Soini

*Ritchie likely would not have been picked--I haven't listed consensus top 8 the past few years because both Buffalo and Detroit drafted in early teens

Still really early in the season, but looking like I hit on pretty much every pick.

Brunicke was a stand-out at Penguins camp and showing some offense in juniors.
Marrelli leading all OHL D in goals and points.
Caswell on pace for 114 pts in WHL.
Danielson killed juniors and holding his own in SHL--might get picked as over-ager.
Hendrickson has been a wall the last 5-6 games in USHL.
