I see a lot of young players that need a little bit of time, and a team that was competitive this year in most games. I counted only two clunkers, SF and Arizona, and one lackluster performance with an injured Jones against Baltimore. Defining success for a rebuilding team isn't to make the playoffs right away. It isn't that simple. This was essentially year one of the rebuild post-Eli Manning. It doesn't happen overnight.

I'm more concerned with finding an Edge rather than trying to sign both Tomlinson and Williams. The focus should be on keeping Williams if they are in a position cap wise after other moves to only choose one. I would guess there will be higher expectations out of Dexter Lawrence next season.

At WR I suspect Tate isn't here next year, and they will be after Golladay or draft a WR.

I don't see Engram being here next season. This dude is the opposite of how to play the right way. He's an anti-Judge player in my opinion. We'll see.

Becton and Wirfs both looked better than Thomas, but I'll withhold judgement of the pick for 2-3 seasons. Wirfs also played RT, so it's not one to one.

6 wins is an improvement from 3,5,4 the last 3 years, but it's not just about total wins. It's about how they look in their losses as well. Are they competing? Yes. Are the majority of losses close games? Yes. Did those close losses actually feel like games that could have been reasonably won? Mostly, yes.

Gettleman was aces in free agency last offseason. Here's to hoping it's another good one. That with some more progression out of Jones can flip us into a 10-6 team rather than 6-10.

ty but when you go 1-7 vs teams with winning records and play in the worst NFL Division since 1970 i don’t see the progress. Playing against worse competition and the only solidified roster position on the team was DL and that group may lose two out of their best three players. Even if they lose one, it’s yet another step back while practically everybody in the league as won more games than Gettleman has since he arrived. The team is currently less talented than the team he inherited. His second coach has the poor talent playing hard but that’s not even close to enough win.

It's been miserable and a Super Bowl 9 years ago feels like 50 years ago. That said he still sounds like a petulant child. Everything bad is because of Gettleman, everything good is because of Mara.
To a Jets fan whose team in reality hasn't been to a Superbowl in over 50 years ago this sounds almost Boston fan-ish.

moving straight to hockey and this Rangers team is very exciting and helps me a lot.

No kidding. At this point, I'm just hoping for a team that is going to be in games and playing games in November and December that actually mean something.

The AFC is now the superior conference too. Each division has multiple good teams, and the one that has only one playoff team (AFC West) had 8-8 and 7-9 teams this season. The 7-9 team has their franchise QB as well. The Jets could win 6 games next season and be vastly improved, but they'll be dealing with a strong division and conference

The Giants need to get rid of Engram. He cost us 3 games (PHI, DAL, and TB).

Im also hoping they don't give injury prone Saquon a massive contract or theyll be stuck in a zeke situation.

Maybe they can unload both Engram and Saquon for a higher round draft pick. Fortunately in the case of Engram, hes so overhyped that some team will probably overpay greatly for him. I'd love to see him losing games for the Cowboys or Jets.

honeslty had to look up the standings reading your post. And holy shit, the Chargers won 7 games???

how did Lynn get fired for winning 7 games with the entire team injured and developing a franchise QB during the season

imo, you can stomach 6 wins with a rookie QB. You can’t with Darnold IMO. The opponents (as of today) looks ok. The Jets schedule has everybody picking in the Top 5 next year (Jags, Bengals, Atlanta and should be Houston. They also have the Panthers who pick 8th).

Because Lynn made some absolutely idiotic decisions that cost the chargers 4 games. They would have been 11-5 with a different coach. Lynn is the worst game manager I've ever seen. It goes to show how talented that team is despite their HC having the IQ of a plastic spork.

Right, but they still have their own division, and it doesn't seem to matter how bad New England is, they cannot beat that team anywhere. I expect them to be better next season as well. Jags could be one of the quickest turnaround teams this offseason with cap space and getting Lawrence. The schedule is: 2x Bills, Pats, and Dolphins with the Titans, Saints, Bucs, Jags, and Bengals at home, Texans, Colts, Falcons, Panthers, and Broncos away.

Yes, the Jets have those kind of picks and space like the Jags, but they are getting the NFC South, which is better than getting the NFC West, but it's not like getting the East or North. Their road schedule is easier than the home one, but I would think fans will be back in the stands, so an actual home field advantage could be back, making those game tougher.

I'd like to be hopeful and say they could go 8-8 with a killer draft and free agency, but they will have one of the toughest schedules out there for a team that finished 2-14.

as of today it’s 13th. With all that cap space and Darnold they have to do better. With a rookie QB, i think 6 is ok. I say that b/c the Jets are on the doorstep of going long term with Darnold. With a rookie QB, the Jets have time.

Jets fans that judge Giants fans for not caring anymore all that much about our 2011 Super Bowl, were you Rangers fans in 94? How did you feel in 2003, towards the end of the dark era? Were you still celebrating 94? Come on guys, sure the Jets are a worse franchise but let's not pretend like 9 years later after we've been the worst team in the league last 3 years before this year (don't know if we're still the worst including this year, but among the worst) we shouldn't be upset because of a Super Bowl from 9 years ago.

I went to the 1994 cup winner and to the reunion in 2019 and listening to the players talk about that season made it feel like yesterday. Maybe it's the futility of the teams I root for but I just can't relate to people who complain about their teams not winning a title at least once every 8 years.

The Jets are almost certainly going to eclipse the Rangers' 54 year drought that was ended in 1994. The Giants won a title more recently than the Celtics or the Bruins. Even the Yankees have gone longer without a championship than the Giants!

I get yr point, it's valid, but I don't think we are married to Darnold yet. Next yr is put up or shut up, and whether we keep or move him for what we can get depends on his production.

The key is the OL. Becton can't do it alone. Sewell Becton and a guy like McGlinchey a 6'8" 310 lb tackle, would make a world of dif.
Still areas of need not to be ignored, but barring injury, a huge dif

This is such a strawman. No one and I mean no one is upset that we didn't win a title since the 2011 season. People are upset that we were the worst team in the league from 2017-19, and likely including this season were one of the worst if not worst teams as well. Also we made the playoffs once since that title and had two winning seasons.

Also, I'm sure if I go to a reunion of that 2011 team in 2036 I'll feel like it happened just yesterday. But were you feeling the same game in and game out during the dark ages? One day during a reunion is not the same as rooting for a shitty team year after year. Once again, it's worse for Jets fans, but doesn't mean that Giants fans fall asleep to a picture of that 2011 team every night and are happy to be shit just because they won a title a decade ago (to be fair two titles in succession).

it's Sewell with Darnold and go win now

or

rookie QB and find OL elsewhere

Now i can die in peace was so fitting b/c the pain was so great. I imagine the Jets fans pain is just as bad.

If the Giants lose a Super Bowl, like against the Ravens, it's pretty horrible but not completley devestating. Losing to the 49ers around 2013 lives with us forever as did the 2008 loss to the Eagles when Plaxidope shot himself. As painful as the memories and miss opportunities are there are still Championships which is better than nothing.

Today, many Giants fans are pissed off b/c it was stupidity and arrogance which derailed an extremely stable foundation. Coughlin was famous for saying "talk is cheap" and then a very mouthy and arrogant clown like Gettleman arrives and talks up a storm and lies to the fan base. Gettleman has screwed up in many ways while the owner, John Mara, has been no better since annointing himself CEO. It was his assinie leaderships which wrecked the foundation surrounding Eli, wrecked the culture by allowing OBJ to go off the rails and these delusional drafts, free agent signings and miserable cap management. This is the Giants 4th coach since 2016 (Coughlin, Mac, Shumur, Judge) and 2nd GM who should be fired too.

the pain of losing without a championship is the worst although losing a shot at a championship when you know your team is better can be very tough. These days, the Jets fans are in all sorts of pain while the Giants fans are pissed off (athough there is always a crew which have been perceiving the roster/org/etc inaccurately on a yearly basis. That crew is out of reach) lol

If you want to keep the superbowl in your memory you can follow Eli on twitter as he occasionally references it. :) The dark ages ended around 10 years after the Rangers cup which I felt was a curse worth paying for. I sat 1 section over from the guy who had the now i can die in peace banner. The rangers were in a 54 year drought and I thought the Jets would win a superbowl before the rangers won a cup yet the Rangers won and the jets wound up winning 4 games combined the following 2 seasons earning back to back 1OA draft picks which they squandered.

There are probably eagles fans who swore they wouldn't complain about the eagles if they won the superbowl and are complaining about how terrible they are. I just can't relate to that.

Would you honestly not complain about this season if the Jets won the Super Bowl a decade ago?

The Jets having the second pick and having their choice at any qb not named Lawrence, not having to trade up, getting an asset back for Sam> Sam coming back, winning six games, picking 12th, and then having to trade a bunch of shit to move up for a qb.
