Why not try Europe tho? I feel like at least the guys would not be wasting a year of development...

Draft him over those f***ing high school kids that don't really work out for us.

Isles got Nelson, Mayfield and Lee straight out of HS. Toews as a 20 year old in the NCAA.

There are gems to be found if your staff knows what they're doing. And missing on a few in the past isn't an excuse to ignore an entire group of prospects.

Not as out there as expected, but not exactly the sexiest pick, from all appearances.

Probably because the European scouts are less influent on Timmins than North American ones. Also, the Habs have not been that lucky with their draft picks historically in Sweden/Finland. Nygren, De la Rose, Collberg, Ikonen, etc...

I understand why the go the USHS/USHL route vs. CHL, because they have more time for evaluation and it spreads out the arrival of players in the AHL/the pros over the years, but Europe is technically the same as High school players in terms of rights duration.

Habs don't exactly do well with high school picks either. At least with EU picks, they have more visibility, especially this draft since they're already playing.

That's if your staff knows what they're doing. Our staff doesn't..
