They are stacked though still. I hate it, as I wish he would get more real time too, but I can't really fault Frolunda given the team. At least he's getting PP1 time though.

That's not really what I mean. Can't they loan him to another team? That's what I mean by him getting fcked over. He's just rotting on the 4th line for no reason.

Just because I'm always a little suspicious with using TSN radio interviews as sources, here's the link: McGuire: Victor Hedman is on another level right now

Askarov remark around the 12 minute mark:

Host: Pierre, what about the matchup in goal? We haven't seen a Russian starting goalie win the Stanley Cup since Nikolai Khabibulin with Tampa in 2004. Three of the four goalies in the Conference Final were Russian, you get two in the Stanley Cup Final. And a potential top-10 pick in Askarov. Also a Russian goalie.

Pierre: Well, Askarov is going to go in the top 10. (immediately launches into Scotty Bowman/Igor Larionov side story). Askarov will go in the first ten picks I believe, I know Igor (coaching next year's Russian WJC team) thinks the world of him. (segues into Vasilevskiy talk)

------

I wouldn't confidently say that Pierre really relayed any inside draft knowledge with that blip. I'm trying to remember if it was him or Craig Button who did a spot with TSN Vancouver radio prior to the 2019 Draft and said that the Canucks would have to trade up to get a shot at Cole Caufield.

Before the 2018 Draft, Pierre did a radio spot where he alluded to a dark horse New England prospect (alluding to Jay O'Brien) being a surprise first rounder, so Pierre probably has some contacts. But yeah, I wouldn't say a throwaway statement from a 20+ minute interview with zero focus on the draft isn't worth a ton.

------

That said, on my mock draft I have Carolina trading #13 and #41 to Winnipeg for #10 to take Askarov. Carolina might need to move up to leapfrog Nashville at #11 since the Predators are a little dry in the goalie pipeline. I anticipate Carolina acquiring a new starting goalie this offseason. So if they were to hypothetically sign somebody like Braden Holtby, Askarov would probably be getting his feet wet right as Holtby's on the way out.
You’ve become our official TSN radio skeptic.

Hey STI, do you think maybe Detroit takes Askarov knowing they are at least 3 years away from contending, which is probably the timeline for him coming over and Yzerman may factor that they will be bad next year and in position to draft a more highly rated dman in that draft where it looks to be loaded with them? Also there's history for this, Yzerman did draft vasilevskyi as gm of Tampa early on in his tenure there.
This hopefully pushes one of Drysdale/Sanderson to us. Really just trying to figure out what scenario gets us one of those guys.

I think it's possible, but I'm sticking to my conviction that the Red Wings take Sanderson at #4 overall. Askarov would make some sense for Detroit, but Detroit is unbelievably desperate at LD and Sanderson would instantly become the most talented offensive and defensive defenseman the Red Wings have had anywhere in the organization since Lidstrom retired.

Its from draftsim

Its fun to play around with and it recently got a lot better as you can pick between that sites draft rankings or Bob Makenzies now.
I just got an absolutely ridiculous draft from draftsim lol that would never happen IRL in my opinion. This is literally too good, but so much fun to play around with.
7- Raymond, 18- Jarvis, 20- Gunler, 83- Robins, 98- Villeneuve, 119- Nikishin, 129- Miettinen, 160- Sam Johanesson, 191- Tobias Handl

Yeah I think I just get easily triggered when I see those rapid fire rush hour commute interviews getting used as "sources" for main board fodder. It's like a bad game of telephone...

Ferraro: Basically says Severson would be a decent trade target if he were available.
TSN radio tweet: New Jersey has "soured" on Severson
HFBoards main board thread title: Devils shopping Severson

And then everybody commenting on the thread never listened to the actual interview. A few years back, Elliotte Friedman called out this one guy who used to transcribe his (and others') radio interviews on a rumor site but would also either unintentionally or "accidentally on purpose" misrepresent what he said into juicy headlines.

I find switching it to bob mckenzie's draft ranking at the top right at the settings page makes it line up more with reality. (usually has the top 4 defensemen taken before it gets to 18 and jarvis isn't always available to us.)

That was fun, played around a lot and traded down for a ton of picks lol ended up with:

7 - Marco Rossi C, 18 - Seth Jarvis RW, 32 - Ryan O'Rourke D, 50 - Shakir Mukhamadullin D, 59 - Luke Evangelista RW, 67 - Jack Finley C, 74 - Carter Savoie LW, 119 - Luke Prokop D, 129 - Alex Laferriere RW, 153 - Alex Cotton D, 167 - Mason Langenbrunner D, 189 Carsen Richels RW, 210 - Ville Ottavainen D, 211 - Lassi Lehtonen G just cause I needed a goalie lol

Totally unrealistic to trade down so much, but it was fun lol

I've done a lot of that too. Mainly trying to get many of my favorite sleepers that Steve has enlightened us about. Vierling, Robins, Faber, etc.
I just scored the following with no trades:
Sanderson
Jarvis
Holloway
Vierling
Robins
Rolston
Laferierre
Langenbrunner
Gleason

Oooh, Gleason in the 7th round would be quite a grab. Just 5'7-160, but he has high end skill and a motor that never quits. He's going to be playing for the Chicago Steel next year, and he's going to be a fun one to watch.

P.S.
Robins in the 5th round. Geez Louise. I wish.

It was the 4th, but still, no chance he lasts, probably not even to our third. Very few of those players will be available at those slots in my estimation, but it can be fun to fiddle with the sim.

I Dont' want to trade down from 7 whatsoever unless someone makes a Godfather offer

I am not trading down 2-3 spots to pick up an extra 2nd. Just pick your guy.
Ya no way in hell I want to trade down .
If we lose out on Raymond Drysdale or Sanderson because of movimg down I will frickin lose my mind . Only way is if Buffalo offers some crazy roster player to swap aka - Cozens aka - not happening

I would freak if we trade down and end up with Holtz if Raymond and the two D were there and go just before us . Holtz is a very nice pick but the cost of having to take him over Raymond for exam,e would have to be a sexy prospect or roster player . No way I’d want a 2nd round pick to move down and miss one of the studs that should be there at 7

That or if at 7 Sanderson and say Rossi is available and Buffalo wants to swap with the assurance they take Rossi Then maybe swap .Bit at that point I think they do something where they make sure we do t take Rossi .. I do t know how that crap works

I traded down so much I had 51 picks. Basically the entire 5th and 7th rounds were my picks lol

Totally unnecessary, but was fun

Would Devil fans trade their 3 1st rd picks for Mitch Marner from the Leafs? Marner would get you 90-100 pts every year... especially playing with Hughes,,, helping him reach his potential... your team has cap space.. Leafs do this for cap space to sign a number #1 D

No, Devils aren't in a position right now to flip 3 good/very good assets for 1 very high end player. Especially when it's not for a defenseman.
