Just because I'm always a little suspicious with using TSN radio interviews as sources, here's the link:
McGuire: Victor Hedman is on another level right now
Askarov remark around the 12 minute mark:
Host: Pierre, what about the matchup in goal? We haven't seen a Russian starting goalie win the Stanley Cup since Nikolai Khabibulin with Tampa in 2004. Three of the four goalies in the Conference Final were Russian, you get two in the Stanley Cup Final. And a potential top-10 pick in Askarov. Also a Russian goalie.
Pierre: Well, Askarov is going to go in the top 10. (immediately launches into Scotty Bowman/Igor Larionov side story). Askarov will go in the first ten picks I believe, I know Igor (coaching next year's Russian WJC team) thinks the world of him. (segues into Vasilevskiy talk)

I wouldn't confidently say that Pierre really relayed any inside draft knowledge with that blip. I'm trying to remember if it was him or Craig Button who did a spot with TSN Vancouver radio prior to the 2019 Draft and said that the Canucks would have to trade up to get a shot at Cole Caufield.
Before the 2018 Draft, Pierre did a radio spot where he alluded to a dark horse New England prospect (alluding to Jay O'Brien) being a surprise first rounder, so Pierre probably has some contacts. But yeah, I wouldn't say a throwaway statement from a 20+ minute interview with zero focus on the draft isn't worth a ton.

That said, on my mock draft I have Carolina trading #13 and #41 to Winnipeg for #10 to take Askarov. Carolina might need to move up to leapfrog Nashville at #11 since the Predators are a little dry in the goalie pipeline. I anticipate Carolina acquiring a new starting goalie this offseason. So if they were to hypothetically sign somebody like Braden Holtby, Askarov would probably be getting his feet wet right as Holtby's on the way out.
