Rodrigue was always billed as the one most locked in and the other 3 battling for the 2 other spots.

Yeah, but given how they played in the USports my mind just flipped slightly in the other direction. I figured 1 of them other 2 were almost certainly the cuts and Jones would for sure be safe

Lafreniere might be our best player. Top 3 at least, and a returnee. Someone like Dudas shouldn't get that same lock if you're injured kind of treatment IMO.
I wasn’t arguing that Lafreniere shouldn’t get that courtesy, just saying they see something in Dudas that makes him think he should be there.

and I don't think a bottom 6 player should get that treatment. If you're taking a guy who's hurt all camp he should be at least a top 6 player. Then again maybe they'll put Dudas in the top 6 to annoy me even more.

I'm pretty surprised that Drysdale made it, but I'm not against it. I didn't like Addison's camp performance at all though. Worse defenceman there defensively and not enough offence to compensate. Hope he has a good tournament.

If I had to guess I would say Addison is the one cut if Dobson is back but it could easily be Drysdale as well depending how this staff feels about age.

Makes sense to have a guy like Lafreniere be a lock because he'll be Cnadas best player but I dont like when its someone like Dudas who is just a bottom 6er. Hopefully it works out but without watching him compared to other guys I dont get why hes a lock. One thing I will say though is thay the Hunters have seen a lot of him in the OHL so they know what theyre getting.

Have to think that they are waiting on an assessment of Dudas, and if he's healthy then cutting a RW. Probably one of Mercer, Thomas, or maybe Lavoie is in danger. I don't like that Dudas was able to just walk on. He isn't tearing up the OHL, he has no noteworthy Hockey Canada history, he didn't stand out in the super series other than that he seemed to play a lot but do little, he didn't even play in the camp.

I agree with you absolutely. Dudas must have a great personality and locker room leadership. Please do not cut A. Thomas - he is one of the better right-handed player.

Heres the thing people are missing.. London who Dale Hunter coaches plays in the toughest division in the CHL.. and London plays Owen sound 6 times a year Not to mention playoffs.. so Dale sees Dudas play an awful lot. He knows exactly what kind of player he is bringing and what he can do and how he plays. He also played the Canada Russia series and captained the team. If they think Dudas will be healthy enough to play then they obviously feel Hes an asset. Hes a speedy player that works about as hard as anyone in the league. Hes shifty and often he can skate through a whole team with out being taken off the puck. He can play any kind of role you want him to play. Yes he lacks size but he can throw hits and take hits and man can he score. He often rises to the occasion when in the big spot light and loves to prove doubters wrong. hes an elite player don't let his numbers and size fool you. Making team Canada is way more then playing 2 games against the USports team.. people forget the process starts long before that and goes on well after. Im not saying others shouldn't maybe be there instead but Im just saying that they have there reason for keeping him.

As a Stars fan I’m bummed about Harley, but I understand. The left side is to strong and if he plays Bahl is a stronger PK option. New York should 100% release Dobson he’s barely played. Playing top pairing minutes vs sitting in the press box is a no brainer development wise.

As of tuesday Dobson had played 8 games averaging 14:02 a game.. 2 assists and his last game Played was monday.. thats tough 14 mins a game when playing means they trust him.. and thats a pretty good hockey club..

Totally agree.
Lavoie's shot is his only redeeming quality, which TC might want to keep on PP as the trigger man. I think he lacks compete.

Krebs I haven't seen play much, but am not overly impressed with his +/- from the past few years. You have better offensive options for your top 6.

I have seen enough of Lavoie to say that he is going to disappoint even strength
The pace and close checking will shit him down
He could be PP used but we are not done cuts yet so hold on to that thought
I would have kept Newhook but what I don’t know is what he did in the past to piss off the HC brass

Bail on the Q to go the NCAA route more then likely. He will be on the team next year without doubt but there is a level of loyalty they have to CHL players and only tend to dip into the NCAA for 19 year olds.

To be fair, Lafreniere isn’t completely healthy at this camp either... and we ain’t cutting him. This just means the coaching staff are confident that they already know what they’re getting with Dudas, even if we don’t. Only time will tell if that’s the right decision.
I hate the injury optimism Canada seems to do every year with one guy (see Vilardi) but Lafreniere has been playing, he was in every game over the weekend. Dudas hasn’t played yet this month.

On Newhook I think it’s defensive reliability has always been his knock but he’s come a long way already his short time in college, his performance at the camp should have changed minds.

Daws really took advantage of the Ingham injury. Got him into the CHL v Russia game and he has not looked back since then, played lights out since then.

I've been a Hofer man, but these past 2 games have turned me into a huge Daws fan. He's been the best goalie in this camp. Those 2 should be the keepers based on season play and their camp.
