May as well take a look at the practice PP units from yesterday:

I imagine that we'll see a variety of combinations tonight in the exhibition.

Any idea if these games are televised, or if there's somewhere I can find a stream to them?

EDIT: Never mind. Clearly my mind ignored the bottom of the tweet lol

I never said to go in cold, but other countries manage to win gold medals without risking injuries in these sorts of games. They practice together nearly every day from the 10-26th and play a series of exhibition games, I guess I just don't see the point of amplifying the chance of injury to a key player.

Look at Bob Mckenzie's locks/front runner projections (which he gets from conferring with Hockey Canada personnel) the day the selection camp has been announced for the last 10 years. You will find that most spots are earmarked before camp even begins. Sure players have played their way onto the team before, but its largely tinkering around the edges.

No countries have won as much as Canada though so whatever theyre doing seems to be working.

I also did watch Mackenzies projections, and he has about 6 or 7 guys he sees as locks at forward. In other words, half the forward spots are up for grabs. Some guys might be more likely than others to make it but theyre absolutely not locks and they need to play to see who belongs. Are injuries a risk? Obviously, but theyre a risk at practice as well. Forementons injury last year is the first time i remember this even being an issue anyways.

unfortunately that is usually a fatal weakness, it sure has been for us at this tournament and other international events for quite some time.

Agreed, hopefully someone steps up. Just go with whoever is hot right now and ride them.

Am I the only one that hates these U-Sports games? We've seen some injuries in years past, including to the likely captain of last years team in Formenton, which is foolish to me considering Hockey Canada pretty much has the team picked before camp even begins and a good or bad performance in these games isn't a major determining factor.
I mostly blame Hunter for playing Fornenton so much in that game instead of trying out other players in those situations. Why lean that heavily on a guy who's a lock?

Is it being streamed anywhere?

Edit - To answer my own question, it's being streamed on the TSN website and app supposedly.

So, we have Smith and Bernard-Docker sitting on defence. Dellandrea, Foudy, plus the banged up Lafreniere and Dudas. Not surprising that it's a returning defenceman and the most prominent RHD, plus two guys who presumably slot into Canada's defensive line and a PK pair.

USports up 1-0 after 54 seconds. McIsaac with a bad play at the blueline gave them a chance, then a bad clear attempt by Thomas and Addison was weak when trying stop them on the goal.

Bahl scored a few minutes later. Innocent looking shot that Rodrigue missed. May have been screened.

Newhook or Mercer (not sure honestly) scored on a deflection. Off a pass from the corner. Rodrigue doesn't look great.

USports played better in the first, hit three posts and Addison cleared one off the line. Super Series star Shirley leads USports. Bahl has looked best defensively among Canada's defencemen.

USports tied it early in the second on the powerplay. McMichael took the penalty after Addison got burned.

Foote scored near the end of the second on a setup by Cozens. Cozens also sent Byfield in on a really good chance. Addison has had some bad turnovers and defensive plays.

The TSN announcer also said that Smith is sick and being kept away from the other players. Presumably it's nothing too serious.

It actually was Schneider who set up Foote.

USports tied it, McIsaac didn't look good on the play. Byram scored shortly after with a very nice deflection.
