Yeah, the Dobson situation is an absolute joke. Would’ve been a bigger add to the team than Dach IMO and would be way better for his personal development.

For those down on Lavoie I can tell you that the game he played against the Swiss team the other day looked nothing like his game in Halifax. Looks like Hunter is trying to get him oriented into being a net front presence. His normal game is very similar to Patrick Laine. It’s not always pretty but when the goals come in bunches it’s real nice. Also I know some of the posters here will scratch their heads about McIsaac drifting the puck to the goalie. Well it’s surprising how many of those get tipped in to the net.

Not sure what Lou is doing here, Dobson is far better off playing at this thing in what would have been a leading role then just sitting watching the games in Long Island.

Bizarre.
Nvm

Dudas should’ve been cut instead, not surprised though some last year eligibility guy who works hard always seems to make the team.

Id like to know why you think Dudas who had 2 assists the other day should of been cut?

Problem is the Isles defense isn’t exactly deep. Dobson is the number seven d-man right now and we’re just an injury away from him being a regular. If Thomas Hickey was healthy then Dobson would’ve most likely gone, but with no one else left as a viable and reliable option he’s pretty much the best number seven right now. So it does make sense to keep him just in case.

Never been a fan of using elite prospects as depth just in case but it seems to be a development tool more and more teams want to try out lately.

He’s just not as talented as everyone else and rather take into account their entire season than 1 game.
Oh really? How many games have you watched him play? You must watch his team a lot being from Alberta.

Have you seen the kid play? Lot's of talent and an engine that never stops. I think you will grow to appreciate what he brings to a team.

I know he’s talented everyone who gets invited to camp is super talented. He made the team cause he fills a certain role better than Groulx. It’s just frustrating to see a guy who I personally think is a better player get cut cause someone else fills a certain role better than he does.

Dudas's speed will play better on the big ice then Groulx in my opinion. I am a fan of Groulx as well but I don't think it was a bad decision.

Yeah, I think it was probably the right decision for the team and when you’re constructing a team as good as Canada is I think you go for players who can contribute when they’re not scoring cause the goals will come regardless. But like I said it’s frustrating cause I think Groulx’s a better player, but I get it from a roster construction standpoint.

I know the chances of major line changes before the tournament are very unlikely but I think a few tweaks would be best. Bolded are interchangeable:

Alexis Lafreniere - Joe Veleno - Raphael Lavoie
Nolan Foote
- Quinton Byfield - Dylan Cozens
Connor McMichael - Barrett Hayton - Dawson Mercer
Liam Foudy - Ty Dellandrea - Aidan Dudas
Akil Thomas

Jared McIsaac - Ty Smith
Bowen Byram- Jacob Bernard-Docker
Kevin Bahl - Jamie Drysdale
Calen Addison

PP1:
Raphael Lavoie
Dylan Cozens - Joe Veleno - Alexis Lafreniere
Ty Smith

PP2:
Quinton Byfield
Connor McMichael - Barrett Hayton - Bowen Byram
Jamie Drysdale/Calen Addison

PK:
Ty Dellandrea - Liam Foudy
Akil Thomas - Nolan Foote
Aidan Dudas - Dawson Mercer

Kevin Bahl - Jacob Bernard-Docker
Jared McIsaac - Ty Smith

We gotta think outside the box.

Hunter has made a few odd lineup decisions already, but I can’t see Hayton getting moved off PP1.

I think Trotz deserves equal amounts of criticism here. He's the one filling out the 20 man roster for each game. but completely idiotic move on an organizational level.

NYI could have had themselves a solid NHL d-man as early as next year had they made the right decision this year. instead they just may have to ship him of to the AHL next year for a season or two. same dumb idiotic move the DRW made with Rasmussen last year.

The good news is I'm really liking the way next year's team is looking even missing 5-6 guys to the pros. I'm just hoping the Hunters prove to have been worth the wait and they give us 2-3 years here of gold medal games. and we win 1 or 2.

It’s pretty tight for Penguins fans though because it gives Addison a roster spot and he seems to be doing well with it.
For what it's worth honestly, I don't think Addison was on the bubble at all with the way that all the coaches were talking about him. He could be a big part of this tournament
