That was an epic set up and you’d think a millionaire like Whitney would have a garage.
Yeah, this is why they completely sealed off the Oilers' new walkway from the room to the ice lmao.

Pros and cons, I guess. During the 2006 cup run that walkway was electric and after wins it'd be even more electric. After losses the fans would be there cheering the team on trying to lift their spirits.Honestly what did they think would happen? Edmonton fans would never boo and harass them if given an opportunity to vent from ten feet away after a bad loss?
They're lucky no players lost their cool and got into an altercation. Shitty thing to subject your team to though.
I peg JTC’s negative value at about a 3rd. Anything over that I say just buy him out.
He's been playing better. Maybe he can get his value up to nothing. We can always say he has as many goals as McDavid/Matthews and more than Marner in the post season. .

Grubauer has been really good and should be re-signed but the Avs team defense is also among the best in the league. So if there's a bidding war then I think the Avs could still be okay with one of the inferior options. Someone like Andersen in free agency or maybe Elvis.
I wonder if Colorado goes back to the Washington well with Samsonov possibly on the outs.

Be interesting to see if they protect him or Vanek.Oh good heavens there is no way Samsonov has already played his way outta town. If he has the Caps deserve to crash and burn even harder than they eventually will the next couple of years.
For sure, but Grubauer was also a clear downgrade from what we had in Varlamov.Samsonov would be a clear downgrade on Grubs at current time.

Not saying it'll happen but he's also still 24 years old.
He's their long-term starter and they'd be wise to get him into a long-term deal now... but Lou will likely only go for ~4 years.I wonder what the Islanders do with Sorokin. Will he command a lot?
Do you think Boston would consider moving one of their young goalies, Swayman or Vladar, and if so would they be viable options for the Avs?He's their long-term starter and they'd be wise to get him into a long-term deal now... but Lou will likely only go for ~4 years.
Unlikely until they know who is the heir apparent to Rask.Do you think Boston would consider moving one of their young goalies, Swayman or Vladar, and if so would they be viable options for the Avs?

Samsonov might have had a rough year, but there is an extreme talent difference between the them and Washington knows that.I think it would be a mistake to trade him, but he seems to be on the outs with the team. He had a rough season both on and off the ice, and both he (age 24) and Vanacek (age 25) are expansion eligible.

I hate to go back 10 years, but it's reminiscent of when they traded Varlamov (who was younger than Samsonov is now, and had a better resume) and went with Neuvirth as the starter (and later Holtby).
What you're saying is absolutely correct but I think there's at least a decent chance they move on from Samsonov.

I think that's a little different though. Washington if I'm not mistaken had a young Braden Holtby in the fold at that time, and the relationship between Varly and the Caps had frayed to the point that he was ready to head back to Russia if they didn't deal him. I just don't see the breakdown reaching those levels, no matter how bad things got behind the scenes, after parts of two seasons with Washington.
I don't know how you can say that. Outside of 16-17 disaster, Varlamov was great for us. Arguably the only reason we were respectable as a team. Grubauer came in as a backup, so to me he was a clear downgrade to start from Varlamov.I don't agree with that at all. Varly had one good year in his last 4 with the Avs and was frequently injured. The year Grubi and Varly were together, Grubi was better and stole the job from Varly. Grubi wasn't (and isn't) better than Varly's peak, but injuries and time wore on Varly. He was and is much better than the current Varly.
