Colorado was all over them. They weathered the storm. Starting to settle in. They are f***ing fast. Anderson-Tonka look good. Why is Moore in the team again?

Moore is one of like four players skating hard, he's been a pretty effective fourth liner this season in my opinion. This team is essentially death by a thousand cuts. Every single player (sans Carter, perhaps) has a lot they need to work on. Through two and a third games, I can't shake the feeling that Kopitar, Brown, and Doughty have slowed down significantly. I was hopeful that some time off could rejuvenate them like Carter. Obviously this is only their third game in ten months, but I have this sinking feeling that it's not going to get significantly better.

Also, what is Olli Maatta? I can't figure out what his strengths are. He skates well without the puck I suppose, but that doesn't help us much. He seems to jump into the rush a lot, but he's not super offensive. He's clearly lacking defensively. What does he do well? I can't pinpoint it yet.

He's pretty good at spinning in circles so there's always that.

In theory he's pretty smart and thus should be a good partner for Drew, but they've both unfortunately succumbed to the hypnotoad

i feel like i see maatta making himself an option on the attack pretty often but he just makes so many damn mistakes defensively that it doesn't offset

i mean i guess there's a reason he's not a top-paid veteran NHL defenseman..

Doughty is locked in, but if they want Kopitar's contract, they're more than welcome to it. Assuming they don't want to give themselves a chance to be Vegas. However, they almost don't have anyone else to protect.

First 3 minutes were rough but they hung in there.

That pass by Doughty wasn't (entirely) his fault; The forward should have been between Drew and the Avs d-man. Maybe he was thinking to get open for a long stretch pass but not with the puck that deep.

Problem was, it wasn't a D, it was a forward - Mackinnon.
So Doughty passed to a guy with a forward beside him and a defense behind him.
