Oh and message to Rob Blake, Alt is a UFA after this season, and unlike Hutton I will not question you if you don't resign him :DD

I'm just not feeling Clague. But I guess he's getting experience and hoping he improves. Just one of those long seasons again. Just have to ride this brutal wave. Can't have all these young players up so we must endure the pain of seeing slugs like Alt, Maatta, etc...These rebuilding years are never easy. Sheesh.

To his credit, he played 22 freaking minutes tonight. That's as much icetime as Victor Hedman was getting his Norris year. That's #1 minutes. In his 6th NHL game. Edit: forgot a handful of games last season. 10th game.

Mikey Anderson wasn't even doing that and now that he is he's next to Drew Doughty, not Kurtis MacDermid.

Frankly, color me impressed he wasn't victimized more.

To me, that shows a lot of growth very quickly, and that's a heaping dump of pairing quality to go from next to Matt Roy to your wrong side with Big Mac. And dont' get me wrong, I'm not shittalking MacDermid, he was as miscast as Alt was and whoever that drunk miscreant that was wearing the Maatta jersey was.

Just goes to show what a lynchpin Matt Roy is as a #3 and Clague can be a good #4 because of his ability to advance the puck too.

Petersen is awesome...that's about it, for tonight. And Arty played his first NHL game about 1 full year, before I thought we'd see him in a Kings uni and didn't look bad at all...and nice goal.

Possibly the best news of the day: Turcotte skating with the Reign. One day closer to the NHL. He's what this team is lacking - even if he's months or 1 year away.
I honestly think he will make an impact with his tenacity and the little things he does every second he's on the ice. Sure, he'll be 2-3 years from being playing
at his top peaked game, but I'm sure ready for his fire-brand hockey and all he will bring. I think he's just one of those rare 19 year olds, that won't be deers in the
headlights and kind of feeling his way around...watching the vets....no, he's going to set the example for the vets, by his example on the ice. I say by his 20th game,
he'll be doing that. Whether or not this begins 30th game this season, or the 45th or 50th, or game 1, 21-22. It will be so. IPSO FACTO

Not really mad, Kaliyev probably thinking “oof, my first goal was the only goal?”

Feel bad for Drew and Peterson/Quick. I think the seasons done with Walker and Roy gone.

He only has 10 games played in the NHL. I'm on the fence about him long term too, but ten games on this f***ing team? He gets the benefit of the doubt for the whole season.

He could play right-handed and only be allowed to skate backwards and I'd feel more comfortable with him than Maatta.

Guy is only 22, still some time to develop. Roy for example probably did not come into his own until age 24..

I think Clague still has lots of upside and still possibly slide into that 4 role.

We don't even really need him to be in the top four. If he can be an Alec Martinez #5 kind of guy on a good Kings team, that'd be awesome. Bjornfot and Anderson are promising for the left side of our top four.

I'm really rooting for Clague but he had (3) really nice, perfect tape-to-tape passes out of his zone.... to the other team, that led to not only a good scoring chance for them but then hemmed The Kings in their zone the entire shift.

These are growing pains but the 1st pass shouldn't be such an issue. Seems like it was the entire team tonight though.

Happens when you are playing 4-6 minutes more than you are supposed to. And other teams don’t have to respect your partners side as they know that isn’t an option. It was like when Doughty was trying to outlet paired with Forbort or old man Skuds.

Yeah that's true this team is so bad everyone looks like sh** anyways. Guess the kid just needs to work on opposition assists.

Tough game. The defense was about as expected. Im super critical on Doughty and think besides the first couple games this year hes playing really well. Hes simplified his game a lot from the spinoramas and overthinking things at the point. I dont really doubt hed be a top player again if things were more competitive.
Cant be upset with the young players. I think Lias is a winger though. Cal played great and always comes through when he gets a lot of shots against. Anyone enjoy watching Iafallo Kopitar Brown and Carter go through the motions? I imagine its tough to be on a young rebuilding team playing to no fans. Lets hope this was the worst game the team plays this season.

It seemed like one forward per line, constantly changing, would fumble or pass to the other team or lose the puck in a board battle every time they were in the D zone.

Kempe didn’t have much jump, wonder if it’s because of “when he wasn’t feeling good” the other day.

Might as well try JAD at this point, can’t hurt. Not like Amadio is some stalwart physical 4th liner just out of place.

Cant hate on Alt, he was signed to be a taxi squad guy. Doubt Blake thought they’d lose 2 top 4 Dmen in one game.

And no point trading for Defense, unless it’s crazy cheap. They’d just have to be exposed for the expansion draft anyway.

I mean don't get me wrong, Clague wasn't good tonight either. But like, who do you blame? Where do you start? There were just fundamental breakdowns up and down the ice. There were no takeaways from tonight's game, just throw it away and move on to the next game.

No totally agree, they just didn't show up. One of those games if not for Cal this game would have been pretty dang ugly.

Amadio did have two amazing defensive plays in a row, one literally saving a goal, so as much as he got Derek Armstronged into the 2C role, I don't have much hate for him tonight.

Terrific performance from Cal Petersen, who once again is putting Quick to shame statistically. Time to start the transition. Terrible team effort, the vet forwards were a complete non-factor, the two goals against early where both mistakes by MacDermid-Clague pairing. These fights to start the game lately is a waste and has started the game off with defensive pairing issues. This loss had nothing to do with Alt and Maatta, they were serviceable. Congrats to Kaliyev on the goal. Doughty has played very well the last 4 games or so, unfortunately the team isn't following.

I hate these kinds of games where our goalie did everything he could to keep us in this thing and everyone else just doesn't show up on the offense end. Just too frustrating to witness. I don't like it when the team lets their goalie down like that.

Agree completely. If the Kings are going to want McD to fight regularly or participate in these ridiculous staged fights he should be a 4th line rw and not a defenseman.

Doughty has played really well and it was nice to see him jump in to create offense tonight, he needs to be more aggressive jumping in, the team just doesn’t have enough offense up front.

Kaliyev did what he’s paid to do. I don’t think his overall play jumped out at you, but the same could be said of Luc his entire career. Similar types of players, knows where to be and knows how to finish. The Kings need his goal-scoring in the lineup more than they need to develop some all-around game which will probably never come to fruition anyways. I do have faith in this GM and coach to properly develop this type of player than the previous ones did.
