Players are coached to do a lot of things. Only the dumb ones do them blindly without being able to read the play.

Babcock demonstrated why MacDermid didn’t have backup. MacDermid is why there was an outnumbered attack.

Yeah, I know, that's a bad way to put it but the point is the same. The strong side defender is supposed to control the gap, the weak side forward is supposed to support. Even if the defender is beat on the risk it is designed to be mitigated by the forward.

Its a calculated risk, which is why the defender looks like he did something wrong when its not the case at all - Brown caused both goals by failing to cover.

In year three they drafted Drew Doughty, and had the 5th overall pick in year four. Also, the rebuild truly started when the Kings dealt Jake Muzzin, which happened in 2019.

i mean if the kings PP heated up even the slightest bit, these games would actually be a lot closer.. not saying it puts them over the top but it gives them a chance

Very true. I don’t see us winning a single game in the playoffs.
