Brown put EVERYONE out of position. Roy took a stride to the pass then back to the slot just as it had been abandoned by a Vilardi, who was also left out to dry by the dumb turnover.
The only way Roy or Vilardi could have properly anticipated that play would be if they had assumed Brown was going to gift-wrap it like that, and nobody would because you just don't see that kind of stupidity very often. It took less than four seconds from the time the puck left Brown's stick until it was in the net. That is nowhere near enough time to process the dumb turnover, assess if you can get to the puck first, see where your support is, see where the opponents are, and make the proper read. There isn't a defenseman in the league that isn't hungout to dry by Brown there.
