Read it again, first time hes used weights to get stronger, previously hes only used weights to maintain strength. And the reason is if you push heavy weights, you get sore, so you can't push heavy during season when youve got a game every second day. He's probably been sore since he was 18, he finally got a chance for his body to recover
Has Doughty ever come across as a strong guy that his focus has been on maintaining his strength rather than adding to it?

Imagine being in the league for as long as he has, and getting paid as much as he has that he's never lifted weights seriously in the NHL. Wow. That's embarrassing.

Hockey players don't benefit a whole lot from weight lifting. Sure, they can push players to the boards. But cardio, lower body work, etc are much more important.

He benefitted much more from being able to play 25-30 minutes a night.

It appears we can expect....

Iafallo – Kopitar – Brown
Kempe – Vilardi – Frk
Wagner – Lizotte – Carter
Moore – Amadio – Luff

So if that’s the case then Grunstrom and AA are extras or rotating in. I would assume AA gets a spot, not sure who he can push out - either Moore or Luff.

If I recall Luff and Grunstrom have to clear waivers so they have to stick unless the Kings want to risk losing them or trades one of them.

I think we have seen enough of Amadio. Time to let go and let other players rotate in. I think AA will rotate in the second line if Kempe or Frk don’t produce.

I'm sure AA is gonna come in and take one of those 3rd line spots.

They can move Wagner down to the 4th line and Luff to the Taxi squad or move Carter back to Center and have Amadio either RW for Luff or out of the line up (Lizotte would be 4th line Center). Or AA on the 4th line in for Luff. I don't see AA getting beat out by anyone on that 4th line.

Iafallo--Kopitar--Brown
Kempe--Vilardi--Frk
AA--Carter--Andersson
Wagner--Lizotte--Moore
Grundstrum, Amadio

Matta--Doughty
Anderson--Roy
McDermid--Walker
Clague

Quick
Petersen

Taxi:
Luff
Brickley
Grosenick
JAD (until AHL season)
Byfield (after WJC)
Kaliyev (after WJC)

Edit: Forgot about Andersson

Kaliyev wont be NHL ready, hes going to need at least a season in the AHL for them to work on his defense. Hopefully OHL is abandoned and he gets to spend his time there this year.

Guys like Amadio, Wagner, Luff, and Moore are all tweeners and would likely clear waivers. Grundstrom is getting close to joining that group.

And I get that, but he's definitely never come across as a strong player. He can add without subtracting.

The guy is an elite athlete who has played more minutes than almost anyone in the league over the last few decades but sure let's piss our diapers over a few arm curls
You aren't that old to be wearing diapers yet Bruv.

Your an idiot, go watch his interview and grab some context instead of being a twitter hero

Don't be emotional baby girl.

I actually really liked Andersson's game in the World Juniors. Yes, that was 3 years ago, but his game is right in front of the net. That's his office. We just don't have player like that. Hopefully he can re-find his game since NY is but a distant memory at this point.

Moore, Luff, Amadio, those players are not only perimeter players, but they are tweeners like @DoktorJeep mentioned. Time to sink or swim.

This season could be a blessing in disguise if the CHL leagues don’t start back up. That means we could have Byfield and Kaliyev playing in the AHL whose games will be played in El Segundo, where they’ll be close to development staff and training facilities.

And I think the Kings know what they’re getting with Moore, Amadio and Luff. If one of the new people can step up and take their spots I doubt the Kings will be upset. Or the other way, if the kids don’t take the spots, I’m sure the team is fine with those 3 moving in and out of the taxi squad.

I think he makes it. What exactly does Moore bring to the table?

Same question I ask about Andersson. Not sure why some people love this guy so much. Personally would rather have Moore then Andersson. But that's just me.

It is so much fun to have new shiny toys in the toy box. Let’s throw out all the old toys now!

Moore, Luff, and Amadio are perfectly serviceable 4th line NHL players. More and Luff are also rather entertaining as well.

It would be divine if our 2OA and 5OA could jump right in and play like 21 year old young men ... but they can’t. Time has to pass.

Besides, dropping your 4th line players to play your Blue-Chip prospects 8 times against Ryan Reves on that 4th line is ... well, there it is.

The 2021 season will give our 2017 and 2018 draft class a chance to battle for a roster spot, on lines where they belong, based on ability and developmental progression.

The 19/20 draft classes need some time to grow.

This is the season where our 2017 drafted Anderson, Andersson, and Vilardi get a crack at full time jobs.

The rest will rotate through for cups o joe, and then in February they hit the Reign.

I would like to see Gundstrom, AA, and Andersson get a fair shake playing quality minutes. Whether they play good or bad, they should get 10-15 games in a row chance to prove themselves so that we know what we have in these players. We already know that Amadio, Luff, Wagner, and Moore have no real upside and are career 4th liners. Not sure why we waste ice time in them during an audition year.

Because many don’t believe it’s an “audition year” at all.

We may actually have three good competitive lines and a rapidly improving D-corps.

The new West division has one favored team that improved (Colorado), two that went mixed bag (Vegas and St Louis) and a bunch of rebuilding/retooling clubs.

Don’t be surprised if the Kings are competitive.

Wagner probably wouldn't, but the rest would. Here's how I would start the season:

Iafallo - Kopitar - Brown
Kempe - Vilardi - Frk
Athanasiou - Andersson - Carter
Wagner - Lizotte - Grundstrom

Also, not to burst anyone's bubble, but Kaliyev appears to be a couple years away from the NHL at least. He does not look good physically at the WJC.

With that said, Turcotte and Bjornfot look great. I bet they push for a spot sooner than later. Byfield still has a lot of work to do.
