Wings fans were the worst in the 2000's by far, mainly because there was a lot of bandwagoners with no connection to Detroit that didn't suffer through all of the years they were terrible. Remember hearing one Wings "fan" sitting in front of me say that Avery was the next Probert when Avery was still on the Wings.

Avs fans were definitely a close second since they were born on 3rd and though they hit a homerun, plus they were in the division and then the playoff series and Blake trade. Also that travesty of a game at Staples when the fans threw everything on the ice as the refereeing was so slanted in the Avs favor.

Hawks fans became the next up due to bandwagon issues but they were never as bad as those Wings fans.

Vegas fans are easily the worst of the bunch now. Takes me back to the Wings days but they are more a combo of those Wings and Avs fans.

At least the other teams have something to back it up. Vegas is just a bunch of chest thumping fans who act as if they've won something multiple times, with the league bending over backwards to accommodate them at every turn.. Wait til the lean years hit .

Because we are rivals with them and they have a team full of douchebags?? I don't know why that's so hard to grasp. I guess we don't talk about Ducks and Sharks here as often because the rivarly has toned down over the years and they don't have that many diving and whining players on their teams and plus their fans suck a lot less.

As a Kings fan however, I absolutely hate the goonery of Reeves, despise their “holier than thou” chest pumping vulgarity, cringe at their mindless hoard fan base ...

... and absolutely delight in their cap-hell, “you won exactly squat” slow-motion train wreck.

Now I feel unclean just from thinking about them.

99% of the problems that I have with Vegas fans are how they act in Staples Center. If you don't have a problem with their behavior, then I call bullshit that you were ever in Staples Center while Vegas was the visiting team.

My problem with Vegas is how the league has catered and kowtowed to them since their inception.
That draft situation was f-ing ridiculous. It penalized deep and talented teams, which is what every team is supposed to be aiming for.

Plus, those f-ers are exempted from Kraken expansion draft, and therefore don't have to make the tough decisions and go through what they did to other teams.
(yeah, I know they didn't get the Kraken buy-in $ all the other teams got, but I don't give a shit about that)

I picked up a slew of hockey books that I'm trying to read through, and Burke's is one of them. Currently reading Stu Grimson's book, and also picked up Kelly Hrudey's book and 99 Stories of the Game. Something to keep me busy until next season starts.

If you haven't had a chance to read Bob Probert's book, definitely do. It is a real page turner with insight not only in his experience in youth hockey and his NHL career, but a window into what hockey in general was like during his era. Just a really great autobiography.

I loved it, great book that was finished off by his wife IIRC. It came across as very honest and as you say was insightful with regards to both his life and the tough guy role. Probert was my favourite player never to suit up for the Kings, I just adored him as a kid.
