To the dude who said "Doughty was only talking about the youth not being consistent"

This is what I meant, he won't call out the vets because they're vets. But here you go, he did. It's obvious they take games off. The vets need to lead by example and many nights this year they havent. Carter was by far, the player who was constantly coasting. Kopitar would take games off very obviously, so would brown. Quick has been eh. But he isn't an issue since he's playing half the games. He gets a pass. Doughty has been our best vet this year, ainec.

And I really don't buy that shit that Carter was "done". There was games where it was obvious he was trying, and he did really well. But it was uncommon. Carter was coasting, yeah he's old but he didn't compete. That was very obvious. I don't blame him for not having motivation, but yeah he's responsible.

Dont think this was posted here, buy John Hoven believes LA and AA are closing in on a 2 year deal.

LA Kings GM Rob Blake on the Week That Was

Blake also added in the article that he is looking to add this summer. I'm not sure who fits the bill in improving this team this free agency. We need a LD unless we are confident that Clague, Bjornfot, and Anderson can fit the 1,2, and 3 LD spots. Who fits that? Ryan Murray?? You get the feeling that LA might get a better fit going the trade route.

If they are looking to make a playoff push they should probably go the trade route. If they want to give it another year to develop the young defensemen and risk missing out again then thats ok also. I think Anderson and Bjornfot already look as good or better than Muzzin did in his first Kings season and he was older if I recall correctly. He was making a ton of mistakes. Clague looks like a different player every game and would enjoy watching him play more while working towards consistency and confidence.

Yeah if they go into next year 'only' signing a Maatta type that will be a signal to me they 1. expect youngsters to take big steps and 2. expect next year to be more like this year.

A solid 25 year old addition to the roster will likely cost a top young prospect+.

The question is are they ready for that trade without knowing what they have yet. In June 2011, they had made the playoffs a couple times, and after Kopitar went down, it was clear they needed someone better than Stoll or Handzus as the #2, thus all in on Richards when he actually became available.

They had previously attempted to add Ilya Kovalchuk and Zdeno Chara to the organization via free agency and went after Brad Richards in the summer of 2011.

I'm probably forgetting someone too.

I really don't think he is, especially when you factor in assets and opportunity cost. I'd rather see what Clague can do frankly.

Yea I'm on board with that as well. I feel like a free agent stop gap is a better option unless a guy who hasn't been rumored is available. How many teams have a top notch young defenseman they can part with? It rarely happens...

Chara was in 2006...pretty sure there has been discussion if Lombardi was actually given the green light to completely burn the thing to the ground or tasked with retooling. Signed Blake that summer then went hard after Drury the next summer...maybe Gomez and Briere as well? At least by the time of the Kovy drama, the Kings had made the playoffs.

Blake can definitely add someone in free agency at this point even if it is 4-5 years. If he does not add legit talent via FA or make a trade for said legit talent, then they are mostly punting on next season again. I think he is all-in on a real playoff push for next season.

Interesting. I like AA and I hope this is real but I’ll wait for a real news source before taking this seriously.

Have you all seen the new staples center guidelines? Basically no women, parents, or disabled people allowed.

You know how hard it is to find women's jeans with normal pockets? I can barely fit my phone in them, but don't worry you can rent out a locker outside arena but you'll miss chunks of the game.

I mean what would you expect? Also a little dramatic saying no women. As a parent I could take my 6 year old no problem fitting what i need in my pockets. Not going to speak to the disabled person as I do not have experience with that.

It ain't dramatic. Women's jeans don't have normal pockets, it's be an ongoing topic for decades. Guess we need to wear trench coats.

Though it's a good thing this team sucks, I won't be going to a game anytime soon.

Yeah, but the FA market ain't all that good.

That is definitely an issue.

I'd really like Foligno as a culture signing but I have no idea what that contract would look like. Blake would have to overpay to get him to go to a rebuilding team.

I'd obviously take Landeskog too for similar reasons.

Not worth the hassle imo (for anyone, not just women etc) with the ticket prices the way they are.

I'd say it is more with the way the team is playing. I sit in 306 and tickets there are $41 a piece before fees which seems pretty standard for buying directly from the team...think the most recently bought season seat in my group is $37.50 per game with the STH'er discount. Of course, I've been selling those for as low as $8 on StubHub depending on the opponent the last couple of years so that's where your price comment holds up.

I'm 99% sure I won't be going. The last game of the year would be fun if they do fan appreciation night due to the higher odds of winning something but I don't want to watch this team while wearing a mask for 3 hours unless it covers my eyes.

All that said, it's a huge step in the right direction towards hopefully having our normal seating arrangements for next season.
