And the guy who leads the league in scoring after 2 games usually leads it at year end too?

Byfields “struggles” doesn’t leave you as warm and fuzzy as if he had scored 6 goals against a team missing a third of their roster. That said, it’s 2 games, with people he hasn’t played with, after 8-9 months off. Honestly, not sure there has ever been a World Juniors that tell you less about a player than this one.

Hell Zegras was basically none existent vs Russia, xG of literally zero. But lights up a hapless Austrian team that is lucky to be USHL quality and he is back to being the best prospect in hockey. (This coming from a guy that wanted him at 5)

All these kids need TIME. Like Lombardi said no player has ever had too much AHL or Junior level experience but many players have busted by being rushed into the NHL. So true

Turcotte, Kayilev, Byfield, Bjornfot, Thomas all need AHL experience. Byfield needs 1-2 seasons back in the OHL.

The only younger players that might make the team are players that are a bit older like Fagemo or have AHL/NHL experience like Luff, Andersson, JAD, or Grunstrom. And a few of those guys are waiver eligible.

Yup only kids I see making the team are Bjornfot and Anderson because they spent last season in the AHL, Fagemo because he’s been playing in the SHL, JAD will get a chance to stick and possibly Andersson.

We shouldn’t think much past those and if they AHL starts playing I can see those 5 moved back and forth depending on their play.

I've been watching Kaliyev's play away from the puck and been really pleased. I know that was one of the "knocks" on him pre draft.
