Also, if you’re gonna be shit next year, you might as well trade Murphy to Toronto for the Pittsburgh 1st and Saad to the Devils for 18/20. Let’s get all 3 Russians. Askarov, Amirov, and Khusnutdinov.

These are tank commander moves...If we're going from Crawford to some random fringe goalie then f*** it, time to tear it down...Let Seabrook take Murphy's minutes and get a top 3 pick

Right side for the next few seasons is Boqvist, Mitchell, and Seabrook. This is going to be awesome!

That's me in the corner
Zack Smith coming back to form a “shutdown” 3rd line with Kampf and Highmore.

No, if we’re saying f*** it anyway, just let Dach run the first line now and let Toews bumslay on the third line and soak in some butter soft matchups.

Kubalik-Dach-Saad
Suter-Strome-Kane
DeBrincat-Toews-Nylander
Caggiula-Kampf-Carpenter

Time to throw the 19 year old into the deep end before mommy can put on his floaties!!

Re-sign Koekkoek

Both he and CDH can play on RD

Keith-Boqvist
Maatta-de Haan
Koekkoek-Mitchell or Carlsson-Koekkoek (If Mitchell is in Rockford)
Seabrook as #7

Murphy is not a longterm part of Hawks and is always injury risk with his back and playing style

Nah, that team wins too many games. Need moar Smith, Highmore, and maybe even double shifting Seabs as a 4RW.

I'd have 4K on the right of Maatta (which was a solid pairing in the playoffs). I'm also not as high on selling Murphy as you are.

But, if we were to sell Murphy with no retention (which should not be hard for a big top 4 RHD in his mid twenties making under $4m), we'd be able to sign Strome and Kubalik to around $3m a piece, 4K for 800-1m, and Crow to $3.5m (if he gives in to that). We'd fit under the cap doing that, and that's not even including a potential Smith buyout.

If our backs are against the walls this offseason, trading him would make a lot of sense and would be pretty easy to accomplish.

If you think Mitchell is the real deal, and think Boqvist can handle a top 4 role for a full season, I guess it makes some sense to make the move for another young asset while opening cap space.

Also, Seabrook’s come back really should be considered. If he can be a #6, you may as well play him since you’re paying him anyway. With Boqvist on an ELC for two more years, and Mitchell for three, the whole right side is less than $9 million total. Silver lining?

I think this team is still missing something to be able to truly contend with the likes of Detroit for Owen Power. I think Seeler will have to come back in an expanded role. Maybe Dennis Gilbert too.

Instead of buying out Smith do you think Hawks should look into trying to trade him to Wings?

Give up Hawks 3rd this year to get it done which would mean no cap hit to carry for this year or next which gives Hawks a little more flexibility and saves Wirtz a little bit of money

Smith has partial NTC so that could be issue

The Hawks won’t need to worry about cap space for a few years with the team posted above. Keep the third and use smith as the 13th forward.
