Another horrid start giving up a goal early. Exactly what we couldn't afford.

Schneider still can't control rebounds and is making pedestrian chances look dangerous.

We still have no system.

How many obvious shots have we passed up for one too many passes? And if we're looking to shoot, we flub it. It should be pretty simple. When you have the puck and a chance to shoot, you do so and crash the net. Start to cause some chaos around their net and then those passing lanes will start to open up a bit more.

Gosh, these TSN announcers are the worst. Linesmen, the linesmen would be reviewing for offside not the referees.

Another bad break in a tournament where we can't catch a break.

This is a perfect summary of that period.

To be honest we actually created more scoring chances than I expected, especially when we left a few good chances to shoot on the table. We need to simplify the hell out of our game once we're in the offensive zone as we pass far too much, especially when it's clear no one is on the same page.

Giving up a goal 1:13 in and then giving up a PP goal are part of the recipe for a loss though.

Schneider was fine after that first goal but it doesnt really matter because one soft goal is already too much in game like this. Defense is struggling as expected. I think three guys playing on their offside has been biggest issue for this team in pretty much every game. Forwards should do better but its not so easy when you struggle in your own zone all the time.

He made some good saves but he also gives up horrid rebounds time after time, just none of them went in the net after that first one. Not only does it turn pedestrian shots into potential goals but it creates chaos as then you have guys scrambling to react and recover to the rebound, which basically kills the shift as by the time they recover, it's time to change.

double shift Jack Hughes....seriously..

He was the most dangerous out there. Skating well and keeping it simple, getting it on net when he has a chance. It doesn't hurt that he finally got some appropriate linemates in two guys that can keep up with him. I've been calling for that Kreider - Hughes - Vatrano line for a lot of the tournament. Kreider and Vatrano both play with jam, Kreider has elite speed, and Vatrano's a shooter. That line made too much sense for it to have taken 8 games to give it a shot.

I get it, they want to feed their buddies, but a little selfish play here is needed..Gaudreau had to roof that..

Yeah, and it's our elite players so they think they can make the play. And to be fair, if those passes get through they're likely goals, so I get it. But when you're playing a better team you have to take advantage of every chance.

Let's go, PP!
