Montreal radio suggests that Duchene could be offered 7 year/$70 million by the Habs.
Good god that's gross
When we did that podcast just after the draft, none of us hated the pick, but all three of us preferred Alex DeBrincat
As for keeping him, I do know that he was one of the guys the Blues targeted for Schenn and the Bruins wouldn't part with him
It’s always about the cost - if it costs more to trade Backes than he’d be worth as a player in the system then hells yeah you keep him. KMiller is a valuable defenseman when healthy - what’s the point in giving that away when we’ve seen how important defensive depth is?
Never was a huge Duchene fan but loved his game in the play-offs. Good have been a mirage. Would hate to see Krejci go, but would also rather be a year to soon then a year too late
Nearly $53 million for 7 players on the Sharks for the next 3 seasons minimum. That is one expensive core.

Duchene is a loser. Hope he ends up with the Habs on a 63M/7y contract.
Does he make Montreal better?
Yes, on the short term. He's not the type of player that will enjoy being scrutinized on and off the ice on a daily basis.Does he make Montreal better?

Why is he a loser? Seriously.
All I know about him is that along with several decent to very good players, he was jettisoned by OTT. And the thing with Marchand. That's it.
Tell me why he's a loser.
Would have loved to have had Ritchie vs. that big St. Louis team (or CBJ). He runs hot or cold but I think he is worth trading for as power forwards tend to develop later on in their trajectory. For those mentioning Ferland, how about Nick Ritchie? Four years younger, scored at over .5ppg this season and seems to be on the outs with the Ducks. I'm not pining for either player, Josh Anderson is the only guy I really would love to have that plays that physical style of game. But if we are going to add someone like that, Ritchie is younger, shouldn't cost much to acquire and is much cheaper salary wise than Ferland. He was a high draft pick and has some untapped skill.
I would hate to see the Bruins overpay Ferland.

Couldn’t agree more. I was wrong about many things this year but a was preaching that we get 3 pieces at the dead line. The big one was second line RW. If we had we would have one the cup.The Bruins absolutely need a 2 RW.
Marchand - Bergeron - Pastrnak
DeBrusk - Krejci - Trade
Heinen - Coyle - Kuhlman/Trade/Sign
Wagner - Kuraly - Nordstrom/Acciari
According to this article: No
And yet the Bruins as well as others have fallen into the trap of overpaying in terms of cap hit and term with these mid range guys who by years 2/3 are essentially dead weight.Unless you get a top star (Chara-Tavares-Karlsson type), a good player accepting low term or a cheap 1y project, just stay away from UFA. As always.
Well, because he lost everywhere he went? Colorado became good the second he left? His comments in the cab? Celebrating an EN goal in a non playoffs season because he was hitting a bonus?
Now, tell me why you don’t think he is...
