We have made some poor choices, but we have EP (Calder) Boeser Hughes who all graduated to the NHL early. Demko is looking great as well. Hughes may be a calder finalist. Hoglander was a big story at the world juniors. Funny how people say that Poddy should have been able to dominate the WJC and is not tracking great, but when we say Hoggy had a great tournament and looks close to NHL ready, they go its just a short tournament and doesn't really count.

And way to early to write off Juolevi.

My take - Hoglander Poddy Diepietro and probably Juolevi are going to get at least a full year in the NHL at some point. We have Madden, Woo, Rathbone, Lind as legitimate prospects where I hope we get games out of half of them. And 4 or 5 more that are decent long shots, like MeEwan and Gadjovich.
Another guy not mentioned a lot is Aidan McDonough from North Eastern. Who of course is playing with Hoby Baker likely finalist Tyler Madden but is playing EXTREMELY well. And not just for a 7th round pick, but for any prospect at that level. Is a year older drafted but looking like a shoot for the stars pick that is showing some potential. Of course no guarantee and we gotta be patient and keep expectations realistic

Madden has me excited looking at his stats but not sure what his upside is. Can someone who watches him play give me a floor and ceiling prediction.

I think it’s upper half. We’re a bit spoiled lately and it doesn’t have that star like EP or Hughes. But I think probably Hoglander would go late first in a redraft. So we have two first round guys from the last draft alone. Outside of the top prospect teams like LA and NY most teams don’t have that.
So I’d say somewhere in the late upper half. Maybe 10th to 15th. Have to wait until I see some rankings because it’s hard to know in a vacuum until you see other pools.

Pretty disingenuous take.

Podkolzin is a 10th overall pick who has not produced at any level, and his continuing to not really produce even against teenagers of much lower draft stock is mildly concerning (but not hugely so.)

Hoglander is a 40th overall pick who is tracking fairly well with good numbers in the SHL but reading too much into his WJC performance is perilous.

They are probably close to equal as prospects right now which is good for one and not so good for the other.

Context. Nuance. It serves nobody to draw these sort of falsely opposing absolutes.

nothing Disingenuous about his post at all. Definition below for your reference:

this seems about right. the big unknown is how many of these guys will get boxed out of auditions by lack of big team roster openings and too many important games. it's been a while since that has been a reality for us to ponder.

Having three players in the top[ 50 isn't so bad is it M2B?

I kind of think all three of them need another year of development before we see them here anyway.
I agree the 3 Canucks on the list should be there, probably in a different order imo but Im talking about the overall quality of his list. Not a fan of his top 3 or so. Romanov too high too, infact Caulfield too high as well, Heinola and Lundquiskt should be higher. Madden too but that may be my homerism not sure

I was surprised personally to see Shane Pinto all the way down at 50. Also was surprised not to see Dipietro anywhere on the list, not even in our team top five. No way he isn't a better prospect than Rafferty and Lind. Weird.

Dipietro size is always going to be a huge knock on him rightly or wrongly at 6 feet. If he was 6’4” I bet he’s a top 25 prospect

The consensus opinion on Madden is that he'd go the same route as Adam Gaudette, and head back to Northeastern for his junior season. But I'm beginning to wonder. He's better than a ppg player and is the co-leader on goals scored in the entire NCAA Div. I scoring parade.

Might be time for the Canucks to sign him; get him a few games in the NHL and then on to Utica for development. Definitely an exciting young player.

The problem with a player like Madden who's been developing at just such an accelerated pace, that any sort of modest projection you make, will probably end up making you look like a fool in retrospect.

We're talking about a guy who was a controversial pick at the draft with many posters here outraged that Benning passed on Jake Wise. 2 years later. Wise has a whopping 5 assists to his career totals and is still hunting for his first NCAA goal, while Madden is one of the most dominant players in the US.

I'd be cautiously optimistic and say his ceiling is a high-end 2nd line winger, but it just feels like he's got that extra step that Horvat, Pettersson, and Boeser had, and is going to go much farther than anyone would have predicted. He's a legitimate blue-chip prospect that likely goes in the top 15 in a re-draft. He's been absolute find by Judd Brackett.

Yeah I agree. Madden looks like the sort of kid who has that X-factor. You saw it in his very first camp.
