I don't think anybody could be upset if we took Boldy at #10. We have nothing on the left-side except 2-3 middle 6 tweeners. He adds a playing style we don't have which makes Boldy even more reasonable. Rantanen is a decent comparable but Hertl/JVR is probably the right skill (and size) level, Rantanen is a beast.

Why don't you like Soderstrom?

Its not that I don't like him but he is low on my D list as I value a combination of size/skating and IQ very highly for a draft prospect.

Honestly, I don't see too much difference between Broberg, Seider,York,Harley and Soderstrom...their all very good prospects.

If we go D then I'm really hoping for Broberg or Seider.

If we go F then I'm really hoping for Boldy or Zegras but I'm not at all going to be disappointed if it's a Cozens,Dach,Caufield,Newhook or Kaliyev.

I'll be pissed if it's Pod or Krebs.

But here's the bottom line Hindustan, It doesn’t really matter who we pick as their all going to need some development time and if ya haven't noticed but Utica is in complete shambles.

I have been saying it for over a DECADE now that unless a prospect walks on this team and makes an immediate impact (like Pettersson or Boeser) then you can pretty much forget about that player being in the top 6 or top 4 on D.

Our player development is a joke and has been for quite some time. I was really hoping when Linden/Benning took over that they would have identified this problem and put some serious effort and resources into fixing it but nope....it's like they don't even know Utica exists.

It's never been a rebuild here and probably never will be one with Aqua as our owner.

It's only close for Zegras and Cozens, because Dach/Turcotte/Byram for sure won't be there. Newhook and Krebs, aren't on the same tier as Zegras/Cozens/Boldy. I would take Boldy out of these 3 just because he would be a perfect fit. Cozens would be a good player if we didn't have Horvat, but he doesn't possess elite skill on the wing which we desperately need.

LOL Frank Saravalli actually floated this rumor on tonight's TSN That's Hockey broadcast. With Edler moving on and no one wanting anything to do with this dumpster fire I can easily see Jimbo being pushed into that corner. It's not hard to imagine Dubas getting over on Jimbo this way considering Dubas needs to clear cap space and Zaitsev wants out of Toronto. I've been sensing impending disaster this off season and this certainly aligns with expectation.

How do people feel about picking Caufield if he’s there at 10 over someone like Krebs or Newhook?

If Caufields goal scoring drys up and I think it will then he's no good to you. He's not a 200 foot player and he'll end being a liability out there. This is the NHL!

I can too. This is the decision at 10, IMO. Zegras goes to DET or BUF and Boldy vs. Newhook decides the Canucks' pick.

Have to say, I've gone back and forth on this one. Newhook, stylistically, would be my target, but Boldy just does almost everything right on the ice. He's so aware and sneaky creative. High end shot as well. Very tough decision.

I've seen you post that Newhook and Boldy are not on the level GN. Why don't you think so?

To me, what Newhook gives up in size he makes up for in skill. He's not a clear tier below.

The change occurs with pick 6 and 10 in each mock. If DET goes with Podkolzin, I can see the same three names going right after, leaving Zegras for the Canucks. If DET takes Zegras, then Boldy could slip to 10.

My hope is that the intel about Podkolzin to DET is legit and that Caufield continues to be linked to BUF. With Broberg tied to EDM, it's going to push someone down. Someone we could not have realistically expected to be there.

To me, what Newhook gives up in size he makes up for in skill. He's not a clear tier below.

I don't see Newhook as an elite level player. I don't think Newhook is going to bust, but I'm more sure of Boldy becoming a top 6 LW that can impact the game in different ways. Mittelstadt is a comparable to Newhook for me, a lot of flash, skills and skating are great, but becomes a middle 6 player rather than a top 6. It's really the little things in a game that push me away from Newhook, sometimes he plays too soft, sluggish, careless with the puck. Boldy makes turnovers too, but he's underrated defensively and makes good stick plays.

Boldy might have a top 5 shot in the draft as well. Hard to turn down a player with a shot like his at #10 for me.
