An arrogant, self-indulgent pick? Jesus, get a hold of yourself. He was the rookie of the year and will be one of the greatest backs of all time. And we are still in a good position to pick a well-regarded QB or trade for one. Absolutely ridiculous take. Some might say arrogant and self-indulgent.
The right move was to take a quarterback to replace the current lame duck QB.

Man, it's unfortunate that after last year all quarterbacks ceased to exist in subsequent drafts. Also, who other than the unattainable QB did anything last year? Sounds like you just have a strong opinion that you're trying to justify by insulting the FO like your opinion is the objective truth and anyone that disagrees with it is an idiot or arrogant.

Darnold sucks. He is and always will be a turnover machine.
rosen is nothing more than a Carson Palmer at his ceiling... and an arrogant ass at that. The only thing he has going for him is that he was a 3 year starter in college but he was just a meh QB.
Quite frankly last years QB class was completely overrated and at the end of the day it will be Baker Mayfield and a field of scrubs at that position.

Barkley was the best player in the draft. Theres no arrogance in taking the BPA. Barkley is the best player this team has had since 2011 JPP. And likely Lawrence Taylor before that based on sheer offensive impact. Saquon WAS the Giants offense.

Haskins has some of the best passing stats I've ever seen coming out of college.

Murray is just going to get hurt at the NFL level. Hes not a Brees or a Wilson that is a pass first and slide on the run kind of guy. Hes a newton/rg3 who would be phenomenal If they didnt break themselves trying to get the extra yard every play.

Hard to compare him to Newton who is like twice his size.

Darnold had good stretches and bad, with a crappy line and zero help at RB and bad WR. He was the highest-rated QB over the final 3 or 4 games or something like that. He had a great finish.

He may turn into a bust, but anyone saying he sucks or will never be better than this guy or that guy is out to lunch.

Saying he sucks is wrong but there are people that STILL to this day use his availability as proof we took the wrong guy in the ROY and arguably best back in the league. Darnold has not proven to be good enough to make that type of outrageous proclamation. But people formed an opinion and don't want to update it a year later because it hurts the feels to admit you're either wrong or not 100% right.

No. People had that stance based on the fact that QBs are massively more important than RBs, and RBs tank out of this league so young. That's been the argument.

Barkley being great and having a great season doesn't change that.

I'm not a Giants fan so I don't really give a shit, but the argument was about QB value being more substantial than RB value, so I'm not sure how results from last season would change that.

My argument or concern is that it's crazy to try to define Darnold, Rosen, or any of the other guys based on one season. I have no dog in any other fight about Barkely vs. a QB or whatever else.

I can see the argument it was a dumb pick though because if you pick Barkley you better expect to contend in the next 3-5 years. If you don’t he’s going to be past his prime. As of now I can’t see the Giants being a legit super bowl contender til 2021 at least

It's only my opinion. Where did I say anything like the bolded? I'll wait.

Gettleman's regime has been a very mixed bag of decisions, at best.

I'm of the belief that Darnold can show some great growth if he is given literally anything on offense to work with.

Saves us 15M on the cap.

Wouldn't be surprised if he goes to Cleveland. Dorsey loves his former draft picks.

Like I've said previously, I think Houston is a candidate to completely fall off next season. he hasn't been completely healthy for about 4 years now and is 30.

Agreed. I want no part of him on the Giants. Risky for us. I could see the Pats somehow signing him.

Darnold is the real deal

Osemele could be a steal, or it could be a wash since his deal apparently carries no dead money if he's cut?

Eli Manning was a bust after his first season too.
So was Goff.

People forget, Darnold was/is 21. Mayfield is 23. Mahomes sat for a year and broke out at 23.

Those are massive years for development. Darnold is the youngest starting QB ever... That's on the shit coaching staff/management. He should have never started the year, especially surrounded by a bad team.

If you watch Darnold play, you know he has 'it'. He may even break the curse... some say Namath has to die.

Saquon Barkley is a generational talent and you take that no matter what. Sports are entertainment, and Saquon is as entertaining as it gets.

That said, given the luck of the fans around here, the Giants having Saquon will probably turn into a similar situation as the Rangers having Henrik. It's nice to have a generational player. It's nicer to have one at a more important position.
